US Freedom of the press

 

The United States (US) is ranked 48 out of 180 countries for having a free press. You would expect that it would be first, since the freedom of expression is guaranteed by the US Constitution. https://newslit.org/get-smart/press-freedom-eroding-in-us/

The US Constitution was designed to ensure that the government would represent 100% of its citizens. Therefore, it was important that the people would be able to speak freely about their government. What happened?

Thomas Jefferson’s fear has come true. He said that the US was a republic, if you could keep it. The United States Government (USG) represents today one tenth of 1%. That means that the US does not have a government of, by and for the people. “We The People” were not be able to keep the republic!

Why hasn’t the US press, on an ongoing basis, reported on the USG’s crime against humanity concerning the Puerto Ricans for the past 121 years? Does this news blackout benefit 100% of the US citizens, or the less than 1%?

Last year’s United Nations’ (UN) annual hearing on Puerto Rico decolonization did not appear in the New York Times, the New York Post, or the New York Daily News. Is this not news?

I conducted my own experiment in 2019 to test the degree of freedom of the press in the US. I wrote to 60 Minutes, which has won 138 Emmy Awards for its investigative reporting, to see if it would be  interested in getting out of the closet US imperialism in Puerto Rico. 60 Minutes ignored me.
