¡Esperamos poderle saludar pronto!

All things are possible, if you only believe.

All things are possible, if you only believe.

I received a letter yesterday from Oscar López Rivera.  He’s been in prison for 31 years for fighting for the decolonization of Puerto Rico.

I am amazed how positive and hopeful he is after being in prison for so long.  It is obvious that he believes that he has done what his conscious dictated.  He has no regrets, and is convinced, like I am that Puerto Rico will soon be colonized!

He said that his mother never allowed any of her children to say that something was impossible to achieve.  She taught her children that if they really wanted something, they could find the way to get it (like the hymn, “All things are possible, if you only believe”).  The worst thing that they could do was to “not try at all”!  That was never an option!

I believe that Puerto Rico has not been decolonized yet, because too many people believe it is impossible.  Furthermore, there are others who believe that decolonization only can occur one way.  So they keep trying it that way, over and over again, without ever questioning whether the process it is purposely designed to keep Puerto Rico a colony forever.  But for that, you have to be able to think outside the box!  And that is one of the tragedies of colonialism.  We think the way we have been programmed to.  That’s why we don’t see the obvious!

I invite you to be as positive as Oscar.  Forget about elections in a colony.  If you think about it, it is lunacy!  Instead, let’s attend the June 2012 United Nations hearing on Puerto Rico Decolonization and demand it happens now!

After the huge sacrifice that Oscar and others have done, it is the least (those of us who want Puerto Rico decolonized) that we could do!  It is about everyone giving a part of what they have, so that a few don’t have to give all of what they have.

We look forward to meeting you!

Who should support the decolonization of Puerto Rico?

Someone who would support Puerto Rico’s decolonization is one who believes that it is wrong for any nation to own another nation, and believes in democracy.

All those who favor for Puerto Rico (PR) the political status of either independence, statehood, or a free association with any country that PR chooses ought to support decolonization.

With a United Nations’ (UN) controlled decolonization process, the political status that PR would have will be what Puerto Ricans decide among themselves.  For the first time in our history, there will be neither Spain nor the United States to put pressure on our decision.  That’s why we have had a long history of not being able to decide.  All those who fear democracy, get nervous with the idea of allowing Puerto Ricans to decide on their own.  Those are usually the ones who talk about democracy the most!  But, it is hard for them to walk the talk!

Even if 100% of the Puerto Rican at home and abroad were to favor colonialism for PR, that would not be an argument to justify maintaining the status quo.  The fact of the matter is that it is a crime against humanity for any nation to own another nation (United Nation Resolution 1514(XV) of 1960).

The only reason to maintain the status quo is for the benefit of continuing the exploitation of Puerto Rico by all those who benefit from it.  But this group represents only a handful.

Please join us this June 2012 at the United Nation’s hearing on Puerto Rico decolonization.  Puerto Rico has always been a colony.  Don’t you think it’s time for her to join the family of free sovereign nations?

President Obama just wants the Latino votes!

Obama apoyaría independencia de Puerto Rico - El Universal - El Mundo

President Obama, as a lawyer, knows that the United Nations (UN) and not the United States (US) has jurisdiction on decolonization matters.  If he really wants decolonize Puerto Rico, why doesn’t the US work with the UN to get it accomplished?  In fact, the UN has made that very request of the US 29 times, and they have fallen on deaf ears!  They have, because, judging by what the US has done historically, she wants to maintain PR a colony forever.

This is why the US has never wanted to recognize the fact that the UN has jurisdiction.  She maintains that decolonization is a domestic issue.  She does, because then the US controls the entire decolonization process, and can design it so that PR can never free herself from US colonialism.  For 113 years, the US has been successful doing that!

But President Obama won’t get the Latino votes if he is honest with the people.  So he pretends that he wants what the Latinos want.  He proposes a plebiscite, and says that he will support whatever the Puerto Ricans want.

Why do you think the Puerto Ricans have never been able to decide what they want?  The US government will do whatever it needs to do so they don’t.  The book, “The COINTELPRO Papers” is a good resource for further study on this matter.  This is why the US wants to keep it internally.

Support doing it the correct way.  Attend the June 2012 UN hearing on PR decolonization, or sign our petition on this site.

We look forward to meeting you there!

He, who makes the law, makes the trap!

Why can’t the Puerto Rican political parties decolonize Puerto Rico (PR)?

PR is a colony of the United States (US) by virtues of the invasion on July 25, 1898.  This act, in itself, demonstrates that the US had, and has, an interest in PR.

In 1917, the US unilaterally imposed her citizenship on Puerto Ricans.  Puerto Rico opposed it through the only political representation it had at the time, the “Assembly of Delegates”.

After the insurrection by the Puerto Rico Nationalist Party on October 30, 1950 the US government knew it had a problem in PR, and a negative world perception for having a colony.

The US then decided to create this deception called, “The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico” on the anniversary of the invasion, July 25, 1952.  The Puerto Rico Constitution had to be modified because the US did not like parts of it.  After these modifications were made, it was ratified.  But where is the commonwealth in the Puerto Ricans having to take out what they wanted in their Constitution?  It’s obvious to me that it is on one side only!

A year after that, the US asked the United Nations (UN) to remove PR from the list of colonies, because she had obtained self governments by virtue of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.  This was how, in 1953, PR was removed from the UN’s list of colonies.  Nevertheless, all of the US’s official government documents consider PR to be “a possession of, but not a part of the US”.

It was precisely to denounce this deception of PR self government that the US Congress was attacked in 1954.

The Puerto Rican political apparatus is designed for the purpose of deceiving the world that PR is a democracy.  The fact that 80% of Puerto Ricans participate in the electoral process (20 % more than in the US) is used to support this contention.  But the reality is that with every election, PR’s problems become even more critical!  That’s because the PR government’s job is to only appear to try to solve PR problems, while it looks after the interest of the government of the US.  And this is where the trap in the law is!

It is now understandable why the Puerto Rican political system will never decolonize PR.  It would not matter either if the 3 new political parties are ready for 2012, because the US makes the rules.  If the rules have to be changed to maintain the status quo, that’s what she will do.  That is what colonies are for.  And if that weren’t the case, why have a colony?

The only intelligent thing to do is to boycott the 2012 elections and plebiscite to protest the deception that PR is a democracy.  The plain fact is there can’t be democracy in a colony!

Then we could invite the UN to decolonize PR via Resolution 1514 (XV) which makes colonialism a crime against humanity by threatening world peace.   Only by taking the control away from the US and the PR political parties can PR be decolonized.

The law with the trap doesn’t have jurisdiction for decolonization.  The jurisdiction lies with the international community.  Let’s use it if we want real decolonization!

We’re counting on you!

¡Cuento contigo!
