The Puerto Rican encounter was held in the state of Florida, because of its importance in the United States (US) elections.  And, there is where the consensus was lost!

The purpose of this encounter was to build a powerful alliance to demand that the United States government help Puerto Rico with her financial and other crises.  Congressman Luis Gutiérrez said that we should not be distracted by our political status problem, because that would ruin the consensus needed to achieve our main priority goals.  José Serrano was the only congressman who said that he regretted that our colonial status was not our main topic.  Many of us believe that, if we don’t talk about Puerto Rico decolonization, we are just wasting our time!

How could anyone believe that an empire would help its colony?  When in our history has the US government helped Puerto Rico?  On the contrary, history shows us that the US government has exploited us for 117 years.  Did you know that the US government, and its corporations make $14 dollars for every dollar they invest in Puerto Rico?   That is why Puerto Rico has always been in crises, since the US invaded us in 1898.  But, that is exactly what colonies are for!  The US government wants to keep Puerto Rico a colony forever!

Luis Muñoz Marín also believed that we could solve our problems with decolonizing Puerto Rico. Click on the following link to watch a video where he explain how that was going happen.  What has happened is the opposite of what he explained.  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVwiv-g7KiI

Remember what Ramón Emeterio Betances asked:  “What is happening that Puerto Ricans are not rebelling?”  Remember what Pedro Albizu Campos told us:  What the Yankees want is the cage, and not the birds.”  And remember Albizu’s question about the supreme definition:  “Yankee or Puerto Rican?”

The easiest way to get a Puerto Rican consensus, in Puerto Rico and in the diaspora, is by:

1.      Recognizing that in 1960, the United Nations (UN) determined that colonialism is a crime against humanity, because it threatens world peace.

2.      Recognizing that the US government has ignored 34 UN resolutions asking it to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico.  Obviously, the US government did not like that decision!

3.      Recognizing that these UN resolutions ask for decolonization, and not plebiscites.  The US government, on its own, has promoted us to do plebiscites, so that Puerto Ricans can argue among ourselves.

4.      Recognizing that Oscar López Rivera has the right, under international law, to have done what he did – fight to decolonize his homeland - , however, the US government has kept him incarcerated for the same amount of years as it has ignored these UN resolutions.  Obama has not liberated him, because the US government is not willing to decolonize Puerto Rico.  Remember, Oscar is our Nelson Mandela!

5.      Recognizing that all of our problems stem from the fact that we are a colony, and therefore, it is up to us to decolonize ourselves!

We don’t have to wait for the US elections.  We can vote with our feet, like Martin Luther King Jr. did!  With a real consensus, 8 million Puerto Ricans in Puerto Rico and in the diaspora could protest peacefully and permanently until we decolonize ourselves.

We cannot believe that the US government will decolonize us, because those who violate international law to maintain colonies, don’t believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!

Gutiérrez debe tratar que su gobierno haga lo correcto con PR / Gutiérrez should get his government to do the right thing with PR

http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?f=001h-pERgrjj_m_GTD5FGggr4CG3aniGZIi9cYOMc-VBGaf2uiGO_Udex95XGVdvwaz0cRcJheivrdnLABhNelD8vVZCGFH5lPc1VqIziQ6w_mzQDo7NS8Z83fLLAsY-yVq_goEwxCepB8iVuaGV9m-Me6DPZIRv4hjTsox3i2vlkM=&c=sgs3RBsZcAvPOMbUIN9BNs98S-wrlDECXL16yoDNEmtZ-XU1MhYqLA==&ch=K_2nrVOQZ-eIizL-M9xlH56CN-kDGHRWsWMJtC2YW2MYCvSfhE1sQw==

Congressman Luis Gutiérrez is asking in this letter that a television network do the right thing.  He is advocating that presidential candidate Donald Trump should not be allowed to be on Saturday Night Live for making derogatory statements about Latinos.  But, why hasn’t the government that he represents done the right thing with Puerto Rico?  Click on the following link to read his letter:

The United States (US) government has been a criminal for 55 years for violating the 1960 international law that prohibits having colonies.  His government has ignored 34 United Nations resolutions asking it to unconditionally and immediately decolonize Puerto Rico.  His government has maintained incarcerated Puerto Rican political prisoner Oscar López Rivera for also 34 years for doing what he has a right to do under international law – fighting to decolonize his country.

If Representative Gutiérrez really wants to defend Latinos from US racism, he should try to get his government to decolonize Puerto Rico.  We don’t need a plebiscite to do that, because the decision has already been made that Puerto Rico has to be decolonized, or said differently, set free.  Whatever plebiscite that may be needed, would be after Puerto Rico is free to make decisions freely.

Luis should understand that his government will not voluntarily decolonize Puerto Rico.  Therefore, he should be advocating that we peacefully and continuously protest for our decolonization.  We must do it this way, because those who violate the law to keep their colonies don’t believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!

Comisión de Derechos Civiles EEUU ignora a Puerto Rico / US Commission on Civil Rights ignores Puerto Ricans

Click on the following link to read the complaint, and learn Puerto Rico history.  http://informacionaldesnudo.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/09/COMPLAINT-BY-THE-COUNCIL-OF-VETERANS-AND-SOLDIERS-FROM-PR-TO-THE-USCCR-14-JUN-2013-Rev-20-AGO-2013.pdf

The Council of Veterans and Soldiers from Puerto Rico filed a complaint in the United States (US) Commission on Civil Rights on June 14, 2013.  The complaint alleges 117 years of institutionalized racial discrimination against Puerto Ricans by the US government.

The 48 page complaint is brilliantly argued and supported by amble historical documentation that overwhelmingly proves each allegation.  Dr. Nelson Rochet Santoro, the attorney who prepared, and personally filed the complaint in Washington DC, told me that after 28 months he still has not received a response.

I don’t believe Dr. Rochet Santoro will ever get that response.  He won’t because the commission knows that everything in the complaint is true.  The commission will do nothing, because it knows that the US government wants to continue these same practices against Puerto Ricans.  The US government cares nothing about violating Puerto Ricans human and civil rights.

Therefore, we cannot go to the United States government to stop the United States government from exploiting Puerto Ricans.  That is why President Obama has not liberated our political prisoner Oscar López Rivera, despite the fact that he has the right to do what he did under international law.  This is why the US Commission on Civil Right has not responded to the Council of Veterans and Solders from Puerto Rico.  And that is why, the US government has ignored 34 United Nations resolutions asking it to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico.  What could we do?

We need to permanently, frequently and peacefully protest for the immediate decolonization of Puerto Rico.  We must, because those who want to violate civil and human rights don’t believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!

It is a lie that Puerto Ricans have to decide!

Click on the above link to hear President Obama speaking in Puerto Rico.

President Obama said in this video that when Puerto Ricans make a clear decision as to what political option they want, that his administration will be ready to support it.  He said the same thing that all of the previous United States (US) presidents have said.  It sounds great, but the reality is that it is a great lie!

The truth of the matter is that Puerto Ricans don’t have to decide.  The United States government only says that because it wants us to fight among ourselves.  That way, Puerto Rico could remain its colony forever.  The United Nations (UN) already made that decision in 1960.  The problem is that the US government does not like its decision!

The UN determined that colonialism is a crime against humanity, because it threatens world peace.   Puerto Rico could not remain a US colony under international law, even if 100% of Puerto Ricans would want it.  Puerto Rico has to decolonize, whether she wants to or not.  In other words, Puerto Rico has to become an independent nation.  That’s why the UN holds an annual hearing in June to discuss the decolonization of Puerto Rico.

The UN has issued 34 resolutions asking the US government to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico.  Thus far, this government has preferred to continue committing this crime for the last 55 years, and to continue to lie to us that it is our fault that we are still a colony for not being able to decide what we want.  Puerto Rico cannot freely make decisions, when she is not free herself!

Puerto Rican political parties are useless!  Why do we need political parties when we can’t decide anything?  The US government allows this nonsense to fool the world that Puerto Rico is a democracy.  But, it is precisely because we are a colony, that we are in the financial crisis that everybody is talking about!  Our present situation is the result of 117 years of exploitation.

Instead of having these political parties pretending to be solving our colonialism, what we really need is for everyone to protest permanently until Puerto Rico is decolonized!  It must be a permanent protest, because those who lie to maintain colonies don’t believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!

Hispanic Federation Report 2015 on Puerto Rico Debt Crisis

Click on the above link to read the report.

Here is another example of Puerto Ricans who don’t want to talk about the root of our problem.  Our problem is Puerto Rico's 117 years of a colonial relationship with the United States government.
The only place you will see colonialism referred to in this report is on the first paragraph of page 8, “…and the complicated and opt unjust relationship between the U.S. and Puerto Rico, to name a few.”
The report’s recommendations do not address the reason why Puerto Rico has this crisis.  For example, this report does not:

1.      Acknowledge that the United Nations (UN) declared colonialism a crime against humanity in 1960, because it constitutes a threat to world peace.

2.      Acknowledge that the United States government commits a crime under international law by maintaining Puerto Rico as its colony.

3.      Acknowledge the fact that the United States government has ignored 34 UN resolutions asking it to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico.

4.      Recommend as the only permanent solution to Puerto Rico’s massive exploitation by the US government since 1898, the immediate decolonization of Puerto Rico.
Puerto Rico could never remain a colony of the United States under international law even if the 5 million Puerto Ricans living off our island, and the 3.5 million living in Puerto Rico wanted to.  So there is no reason for Puerto Ricans to ever discuss at this time what political options we prefer.  That discussion will have to wait until Puerto Rico becomes an independent nation.
The report’s recommendations are ridiculous.  Colonies are for exploitation, and that is exactly what the US government has done, and will continue to do!  We need to understand is that nations that have colonies do not believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!
The Hispanic Federation should have recommended instead that all Puerto Ricans ought to protest permanently and continuously to force the United States government to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico.  That is the obvious solution to our eternal crisis!
What are we waiting for?

The Report's Conclusion / Recommendations

Puerto Rico and its citizens are inextricably intertwined with the United States by history, emigration and economics. Puerto Ricans, both on the island and stateside, have fought valiantly in every war since World War I, and its citizens have contributed to this nation in innumerable ways.  Its diaspora – five million strong, still intimately connected to the island – are a visible presence in communities throughout the fifty States of the Union. Just as significantly, three out of every four municipal funds in the country hold Puerto Rico’s bonds.

Because of these intimate interconnections, what affects Puerto Rico affects the U.S.  The fact that Puerto Rico faces the worst economic crisis in more than a century should be of the highest concern to all Americans. If Puerto Rico is forced to enact even more draconian cuts to its budget, the island will almost certainly spiral into an even deeper crisis. Given the interpenetration of the Puerto Rican population and economy with the U.S., this will have incalculable repercussions on communities, towns and cities stateside.

The time to debate or assign blame is past, as is any hope that the U.S. could avoid economic fallout from this crisis. The real question is, do we have the will to act in order to ameliorate its very worst effects?

To do so, we urge the Administration and Congress to resist calls by hedge funds to force more cuts to social services.

We urge Congress to give Puerto Rico the ability to file for bankruptcy protection and to pass legislation rectifying economic inequities including the Jones Act and Mi Salud.  We urge the President to call for a full federal agency review of policies that are economically harmful to Puerto Rico, including health care reimbursement, and convene his Working Group on Financial Markets to develop an in-depth debt relief, repayment, and investment plan to stabilize the island’s economy. A focus on sustained growth and prosperity for the people of Puerto Rico must be at the core of this fiscal reform plan.

We urge the President and Congress to take strong, substantive and constructive action now to stabilize Puerto Rico and protect the current and future livelihood of millions of American citizens living on the island.

Global Action Call to Support the People of Palestine
Let us join forces and act now to halt the zionist regime's crimes against the defenseless people of Palestine.
Venezuelan Agenda:
Monday: October 12: 9:00 AM:
Cuartel de la Montaña. Caracas. Indigenous communities and Palestine solidarity movements will pronounce themselves in support of the right of resistance of all indigenous peoples, condemn colonialism, imperialism, racism, massacres and the state of injustice that have been ending the lives of thousands of aboriginal peoples in our American continent since 1492, and which since 1948 have been attacking the Palestinian People with impunity, a people which to this day has stood steadfast in resistance.

Wednesday: October 14: Starting at 10:00 AM: Rally at the UN headquarters in Caracas. los Palos Grandes, torre HP. We're also calling for a global Twitter response in support of Palestine, starting at 11:00 AM. The action should last throughout the day. We call on Palestine supporters to use the following hashtags: #PalestineResist #PalestineIntifada and #We'reAllWithPalestine .

The purpose of these actions:

1. To express our repudiation of the ethnic cleansing of Palestinian people from the region, as well as the racist, apartheid and genocidal policies of the expansionist and colonialist "Israeli" regime.

2, To repudiate and denounce the support and complicity of some western blocks and countries like the U.S., Canada, England and the E.U., who when it comes to the "Israeli" colonialist regime, manage not only to ignore international law, nuclear energy treaties and the UN's Security Council and General Assembly resolutions, but provide it with resources and judicial cover, which have allowed that regime to continue to advance its dark agenda of ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian People.

3. To demand: that the United Nations take some responsibility in stopping these crimes, given that this body happens to be the founder of the artificial entity known today as the "state" of "Israel". That it comply with the 65+ resolutions which it generated, and which have been systematically violated by "Israel" with impunity; that it facilitate the enforcement of compliance of the "Israeli" regime, its army, functionaries and settlers with those international laws that relate to the respect for human rights.

4. To appeal to the higher conscience of the world, and call on the peoples of the world, world organizations, trade unions, government entities, local, regional and national governments to join the global boycott divestment and sanctions campaign against the "Israeli" regime, (BDSM), to nonviolently put an end to the genocide, expansionism and impunity of the zionist entity in Palestine and the rest of the Middle East.
Only by organizing ourselves can we achieve justice. The survival of peoples lies in our own actions. Knowledge, activism, participation and support for pressure campaigns like the BDSM, as well as a more conscious use of our votes to elect governments and exert pressure on them to take more honest and just stands are crucial. In addition, we need to condemn and denounce the censorship, propaganda, manipulation and disinformation promoted by the larger media outlets, which are part and parcel of international Zionism and the racism it promotes.

Caracas, Venezuela

No more death! No more oppression! No more injustice!

Puertorriqueños que no quieren hablar del Problema / Puerto Ricans who don’t want to talk about the problem

How is it possible to resolve a problem without talking about it?  This is what some want to do in Florida to arrive at a Puerto Rican diaspora consensus about the many problems that we face both here and there.

The problem with that is that our problem is precisely that we are a colony!  If we don’t realize that, and struggle to decolonize ourselves, everything else is just fooling ourselves.

Why don’t we all protest peacefully to force the United States government to comply with the 34 United Nations resolutions asking it to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico? That would be doing something specifically directed at the root of our 117 year old problem.  After that many years, it should be obvious that the US government wants to keep us a colony forever!  What are we waiting for?
