President Roosevelt instituted his new deal to combat the
Great Depression. Part of the plan was to avoid future economic problems. Since
the 1930’s, we have continued to have economic problems.
US oligarchs were angry about Roosevelt’s new deal. They
liked the old one better. They tried to get US Major General Smedley Butler to
help them overthrow Roosevelt. Butler alerted the US government about the coup,
