Special Committee on Decolonization Approves Text Calling upon United States to Initiate Self-determination Process for Puerto Rico
Click on the above link to read the United Nations’ (UN) official minutes of the Puerto Rico Decolonization Hearing held on Monday, June 17, 2013. Again, the Special UN Committee for Decolonization issued its 32nd resolution calling on the United States of America to decolonize Puerto Rico by virtue of her legitimate right under international law.
Now that the world has the law behind it, it is time to peacefully protest at least twice a year, one in Puerto Rico and the other in New York City, until the government of the United States finally makes good on these multiple resolution it has ignored for 31 years!
The following is the flyer that we handed out in the park across the street of the United Nations during 8:00 AM to 6:00 PM. We were later invited to the Venezuela ’s Mission for a celebration.
I look forward to making the New York City (NYC) protest even better with the important contacts that I was able to make with the NYC Puerto Rican Diaspora! I particularly want to thank the tremendous help of Iris Colon , Eric Ramos Rodríguez (President of the New York ’s Committee of the Puerto Rican Independence Party), Laila Román Jiménez and the 2 Puerto Rican actresses (Morales).

Peaceful Protest at the United Nations on June 17, 2013 from 8 to 5PM.
By José M. López Sierra
We are here today to peacefully protest the United States (US) governments’ “crime against humanity” for maintaining Puerto Rico under colonial rule for over 114 years.
This July 25th will be the 115th anniversary of Puerto Rico’s illegal political relationship with the United States . The United States government shows no genuine indication that it wants to end this illegal colonial relationship according to international law, because
· US has ignored 31 United Nations resolutions calling on the United States to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico , and
· US has illegally maintained incarcerated for 32 years Oscar López Rivera for fighting for Puerto Rico ’s decolonization
Compañeros Unidos para la Descolonización de Puerto Rico (CUDPR) and others plan to peacefully protest twice a year until Puerto Rico becomes decolonized. The first protest will be in Puerto Rico on the Abolition of Slavery Day on March 22nd. The second will be during the yearly hearing to discuss Puerto Rico’s decolonization outside the United Nations in New York City .
We hope that everyone who believes in democracy will get involved in decolonizing Puerto Rico , because those who practice colonialism don’t believe in justice for all.
Martin Luther King Jr. said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” Abraham Lincoln said it this way. “Those who deny the right to others don’t deserve it for themselves.”
