El Estado Libre Asociado (ELA) de Puerto Rico es una colonia del Gobierno de Estados Unidos (EEUU).  ¿Por qué su nombre no lo aparenta?  ¡Porque el gobierno de Estados Unidos no quiere que se sepa esa realidad! 

El Partido Nacionalista de Puerto Rico se rebeló en contra del gobierno invasor estadunidense el  30 de octubre de 1950.  La Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU) fue creada unos años antes con la idea de que toda nación tiene el derecho inalienable a su autodeterminación e independencia.  Como la insurrección llamó la atención del mundo de que Puerto Rico es una colonia, el gobierno de Estados Unidos creó este nuevo nombre en el 1952 para disfrazarla.

La ley 600 del gobierno de Estados Unidos creó el ELA.  ¿Desde cuándo la constitución de un país se establece a base de una ley de otro país?  ¿Qué más prueba necesitamos para comprobar que este nuevo nombre no cambió en nada nuestra relación colonial?

Luis Muñoz Marín ayudó al gobierno de Estados Unidos a convencer a la ONU que Puerto Rico había alcanzado su gobierno propio.  En el 1953, Puerto Rico se sacó de la lista de colonias de la ONU.  Puerto Rico no ha vuelto a aparecer en esa lista, a pesar de que la ONU celebra todos los años una vista en junio sobre la descolonización de Puerto Rico.

4 puertorriqueños nacionalista atacaron la Camera de Representante estadounidense el 1 de marzo de 1954 para llamar la atención del mundo de que Puerto Rico sigue siendo una colonia.  Rafael Cancel Miranda es el único de los 4 que queda vivo. 

En este video, Luis Muñoz Marín explica cómo el ELA va a beneficiar a los puertorriqueños. Muñoz habla de la importancia del voto en una democracia.  Él habla de la importancia de no vender tú vota.  Él habla de tener más autoridad y control sobre nuestras vidas.  Él habla de que Puerto Rico le delega poderes al gobierno de Estados Unidos para algunas áreas.  Y, él habla de una asociación entre el ELA y EEUU  y de respectarse a sí mismo.  ¡El único problema con su explicación es que nada tiene que ver con nuestro coloniaje!  Oprima el siguiente enlace para ver el video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVwiv-g7KiI

Lo que dijo Muñoz es todo lo contrario de lo que hoy vivimos los puertorriqueños.  Por la primera vez tenemos más puertorriqueños fuera de Puerto Rico que adentro.  Algunos lo llaman nuestra crisis económica.  ¡Se supone que una colonia se explote, para eso son!  Pedro Albizu Campos fue el que nos habló de eso.  Él nos dijo que el americano lo que le interesa el la jaula y no los pájaros.  Si no nos despertamos, quizás en los próximos 117 años, no habrá ni un puertorriqueño en nuestra patria.  Albizu fue el que dirigió la insurrección del 1950.

Luis Muñoz Marín cometió el mismo error que cometen muchos al pensar que el mismo gobierno que nos colonizó, nos va a descolonizar.  Si eso fuera cierto, ¿Por qué en primer lugar nos colonizó? 

Sería  imposible descolonizar a Puerto Rico a través de algún mecanismo donde el gobernó de Estados Unido tenga el control.  Por tal razón, no debemos votar en las elecciones coloniales de Puerto Rico, porque eso solo confunde al mundo en que tenemos un gobierno democrático, y que tenemos nuestra soberanía.  No debemos participar en plebiscitos para determinar nuestro estatus político.  Ya eso se determinó en el 1960.  El gobierno de Estados Unidos es el que le toca cumplir con las 34 resoluciones pidiéndole que descolonizar inmediatamente a Puerto Rico.  En otras palabras, EEUU tiene que entregarla a Puerto Rico la autoridad de gobernarse a sí misma. 

Para obligarlo a cumplir con la ley internacional, tenemos que permanentemente y pacíficamente protestar.  Si no lo hacemos, nunca nos descolonizaremos porque, los que mantienen colonias NO CREEN EN LA JUSTICIA PARA TODOS.
 

 

The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico is a colony of the United States (US) government.  Why is the name deceiving?  It is because, the US government wants to cover it up!

The Puerto Rican Nationalist Party rebelled against the US government’s control over Puerto Rico on October 30, 1950.   The United Nations (UN) had been established a few years earlier with the idea that all nations had the inalienable right to their self-determination and independence.  Since the 1950 insurrection called attention to the fact that Puerto Rico is a colony, the US government decided to create this new name to make it appear that Puerto Rico is not. 

US law 600 created The Commonwealth of Puerto Rico.  Since when is the constitution of a country based on the law of another country?  What more proof is needed for anyone to be certain that Puerto Rico continues to be a colony despite this new name?

Luis Muñoz Marín helped the US government convince the UN that Puerto Rico had achieved self-government.  In 1953, the UN removed Puerto Rico from its list of colonies.  Puerto Rico has never been put back on that list, despite the fact that the UN holds an annual hearing in June to discuss the decolonization of Puerto Rico.

4 Puerto Rican nationalists attacked the US Congress on March 1, 1954 to call the world’s attention to the fact that Puerto Rico is still a colony of the United States.  Only one of those nationalists, Rafael Cancel Miranda, is still alive.

In this video, Luis Muñoz Marín explains how the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico will benefit Puerto Ricans.  He talks about voting in a democracy.  He talks about not selling your vote.  He talks about having more authority and control over our lives.  He talks about Puerto Rico delegating certain powers in certain areas to the US government.  And he talks about an association between San Juan and Washington DC, and about respect for oneself.  The only problem with everything that he said is that, it has nothing to do with our colonial reality!  Click on the following link to see the video:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gVwiv-g7KiI

What Puerto Rico is living today is the opposite of what Luis Muñoz Marín said in this video. What we are living today for the first time is that more Puerto Ricans are living outside of Puerto Rico than in.  Some people call it our economic crisis.  But colonies are supposed to have that, because colonies are for exploitations!  Pedro Albizu Campos talked about that.  He said that the US wanted the cage, and not the birds.  If we don’t wake up, maybe in another 117 years, all Puerto Ricans would have abandoned our homeland.  Pedro Albizu Campos was the one who headed the 1950 insurrection. 

Luis Muñoz Marín made the same mistake that many others make today in believing that the same government that colonized us, will decolonize us.  If that were true, why did it colonize us in the first place?

It would be impossible that we could decolonize via any process controlled by the US government.  That is why we should not participate in the colonial elections in Puerto Rico.  That only confuses the world in believing that we live in a democracy, and that we are a sovereign nation.  We should not participate in any plebiscite to determine our political status.  That has already been determined by the UN in 1960.  It is up to the US government to comply with the 34 UN resolutions and immediately decolonize Puerto Rico.  Puerto Rico must become an independent nation by international law! 

We must permanently and peacefully protest for that, because those who maintain colonies don’t believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!
