What is the purpose of education?

That depends on your goal. Do you want to develop citizens that will question the information that they know to create ways to solve the many challenges that life brings without any limitations? Or, do you want to create citizens who will not challenge the status quo?

Professor Noam Chomsky discusses these 2 educational goals. Click on the following link to watch his video: https://youtu.be/DdNAUJWJN08

After the civil rights and Vietnam War protests of the 1960’s, the United States Government (USG) felt that there was too much democracy. These protests challenged the USG governing the nation exclusively for the 1%. Therefore, the USG decided to use education to indoctrinate its citizens. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=26O-2SVcrw0&t=26s

Therefore, the United States (US) is not a real democracy, if her government ignores 99% of its citizens. Here is the proof:

1. US citizens have no universal health care like most industrialized nations
2. Half of US citizens live either in poverty or close to it
3. Half of the members of the US Congress are at least millionaires
4. 1% of US citizens are at least millionaires
5. There are 22 empty homes for every homeless person

The 99% must educate themselves in the first educational goal, if we intend to create a real democracy to represent 100% of our citizens. We must, because, right now, the United States is not…”a nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all”. https://www.facebook.com/groups/1697349163904877/

Do we dare to be the land of the free and the home of the brave?
