Being a radical
is good if your government is only interested in representing 1% of its
citizens. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. said that, “I am convinced that if we are
to get on the right side of the world revolution, we as a nation must undergo a
radical revolution of values”.
What was the
world revolution that Martin was talking about? The United Nations (UN) was
founded in 1945 after World War II. The UN’s goal, as expressed in its Charter,
is to promote world peace. The Charter specifically prohibits colonialism. For
the past 75 years, the United States Government (USG) has violated the UN’s
Charter.
Moreover,
the USG has consistently continued to commit a crime against humanity by
deliberately ignoring 38 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto
Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001/
The USG
tries to distract attention to this by talking about other things. It talks
about:
1. Puerto Rico has a huge debt that she
must pay
2. Puerto Rico has the most corrupted
government in the world
3. Puerto Ricans must decide in a plebiscite
whether they want to remain a colony, become a state of the United States of
America, or become an independent republic
Most people
are unaware that when the USG militarily invaded Puerto Rico, Puerto Ricans already
had real self-government from Spain as a result of the Autonomic Charter of
1897. But, instead of the USG holding a plebiscite in 1898, it decided on a military invasion. That military invasion turned
Puerto Ricans up-side-down for the past 121 years! https://youtu.be/QfsfoFqsFk4
However,
when 4 Puerto Rican Nationalist used violence, like the USG did, to attack the
United States (US) Congress in 1954, the US press, which is controlled by the
USG, called them radicals. Therefore, it is acceptable for the USG to use
violence to commit a crime against humanity, but it is not for
colonized people to use violence to get their own sovereignty back.

Puerto
Ricans will have to turn the USG up-side down to get it right-side-up again for
us. That will never be accomplished by doing it via colonial elections like the
USG would like us to. We need the revolution that Dr. King spoke of.
The almost 9
million Boricuas worldwide must engage in permanent resistance to force the USG,
as Martin said, “to get on the right side of the world revolution”. We must,
because those who insist on being on the wrong side of the world revolution,
don’t believe in LIBERTY AND IN JUSTICE FOR ALL! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0
It depends
if you are up-side-down.
