Mr. Finies
had the opportunity to speak in this very important conference explaining the
illegal annexation and colonization of Bonaire. He revealed how the Netherlands
imposed her political system was on our people without our consent, and embedded
illegally and un-democratically her Constitution. Our locally elected government of Bonaire and
our Political Parties have no power, as the laws are now made in The Hague. Furthermore,
Holland placed non-democratically elected governors, institutions, managers, and
directors, to decide over the so-called “elected island government”.
Mr. Finies’
speech was met with a great length of applause. President Moreno, COPPPAL, and all the
countries that participated gave Mr. Finies and the Bonaire People a
declaration of solidarity and support. Mr. Finies thanked President Moreno and
all COPPPAL Latin American and Caribbean government leaders that adopted the
Bonaire case. Finies speech ended with
the quote " Nobody's free until everybody’s free” and vowed to continue to
fight as long as it is necessary to give Bonaire's people a future.
