The United States (US) proclaims herself to be the “champion of democracy”, but her entire history has been about win-lose.

This is best exemplified as “America First”, and the fact that the US has over 800 military bases around the world. If that is democracy, why does the world consider the US as the biggest threat to peace?

Macron, worried about losing access to cheap Nigerien uranium, distorts reality, and clings to the narrative that the ousted president was democratically elected, and therefore, despite the people not wanting him back, must be restored to power. ¿Por qué sería necesario que San Juan le pida a la familiar de Fufi escribir una carta explicando las razones por la cual la cancha debería mantener la dedicación a la memoria de Fufi?

La foto arriba, tomada, el 20 de mayo de 2019, el año después que murió Fufi, documenta el estado de abandono en que se encontraba la cancha. La segunda foto fue tomada el 23 de agosto de 2023 y documenta nuestros esfuerzos en su rehabilitación.

Lo menos que merece Fufi es una cancha en su memoria en su querida Boriken.

Since when does the champion of democracy need 800 military to prevent nations all around the world from exercising their sovereignty? Isn’t sovereignty supposed to be respected by all nations under international law?

The United States (US), the so-called beacon of democracy, violated Puerto Rico’s sovereignty 125 years ago. Puerto Rico had finally, in 1897, achieved real self-government from Spain. The US didn’t care about that, because she wanted to exploit Puerto Rico. Could that be what the US calls “US exceptionalism”?

There has never been democracy in the United States, since her birth in 1776. On the contrary, there has always been oligarchy now, oligarchy tomorrow and oligarchy forever. And that is why the world regards the US as the biggest threat to peace!

Modernization threatens Fufi’s basketball court

The city of San Juan suddenly wants to modernize Puerto Rico’s financial district known as “Milla de Oro”. As part of that modernization, the city, along with others including Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, want to reconstruct the Gándara Park where Fufi’s basketball court is located.   

This park was abandoned, when José Luis Díaz and I, José M. López Sierra, decided to clean up the park to establish a Christian vegetable patch and baptize the only basketball court in honor of our Boricua great Jose “Fufi” Santori Coll. The city initially asked us whether Fufi’s family consented with the court having his name. After we responded affirmatively, the requirement now was that Fufi’s family must write a letter stating why the court should bear Fufi’s name, so that the municipal assembly could make the determination. Everybody in Puerto Rico knows who Fufi was, which makes that letter totally unnecessary and insulting!

Instead of the city, if Puerto Rico were a democracy, to automatically maintain the dedication to Fufi in appreciation of us having taken the initiative of saving the park when nobody cared about it, now, 5 years later, the city looks to remove Fufi’s name. Doesn’t that smell like the oligarchs’ interests over the people’s interests?

La modernización amenaza la Cancha Fufi

El municipio de San Juan, de repente, está buscando modernizar la Milla de Oro en Hato Rey, Boriken. Como parte de esa modernización, el municipio, y otras entidades incluyendo el Banco Popular de Puerto Rico, quieren reconstruir el Parque Gándara donde la Cancha Fufi está ubicada.

Este parque estaba en un estado de abandono cuando José Luis Díaz y yo, José M. López Sierra, decidimos limpiar el parque para crear un huerto Cristiano y bautizar su única cancha de baloncesto en honor al orgullo boricua José “Fufi” Santori Coll. El municipio inicialmente nos preguntó si la familia de Fufi eta de acuerdo con que la cancha tuviera el nombre de Fufi. Luego de contestarle afirmativamente, la exigencia cambió a que la familia tenía que escribir una carta expresando las razones por la cual dicha chancha debería ser nombrada Fufi, para que la asamblea municipal de San Juan pueda hacer esa determinación. ¡Todo el mundo sabe quién es Fufi, lo cual dicha exigencia es totalmente innecesaria!

En vez del municipio automáticamente mantener la dedicación de la cancha a Fufi en agradecimiento por nosotros haber recado el parque cuando nadie le importaba, ahora, 5 años más tarde, el municipio busca remover a Fufi de la cancha. ¿Eso huele a democracia, o a interese de la oligarca criolla e imperialista estadounidense?

Puerto Rico ha sido una colonia de Estados Unidos (EU) por lo últimos 125 años. Dicho estatus político es ilegal, por lo cual, EU está cometiendo un crimen en contra de la humanidad.
