Complicating PR decolonization

Many Puerto Ricans have complicated our decolonization, by ignoring the fact that colonialism has been a crime against humanity for the past 76 years!

If Puerto Ricans were to realize that the United Nations has asked the United States government (USG), in 39 resolutions, to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans, why would we want to do it in the manner that Ricky Roselló is describing in the following video? Click on the following link to watch that video: https://youtu.be/zRHw-s4PNTk

The problem with elections and plebiscites in Puerto Rico is that, as a colony, elections in Puerto Rico are not free elections. Puerto Ricans have no rights that the USG has to respect. That is what the Treaty of Paris of 1898 says, and it is still the law of the land.

Therefore, Puerto Ricans ought to be engaged in permanent resistance to force the USG to comply with the UN’s Charter that prohibits colonialism since 1945. After we are free, and, if we want, and if the USG agrees, Puerto Rico could then become the 51st states of the Union like Ricky wants. http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001

Learning our real history will make it easy for us to see clearly what we must do to decolonize ourselves. The plan is to resist now, tomorrow and forever! www.TodosUnidosDescolonizarPR.blogspot.com

Simplify Puerto Rico decolonization by learning our history.

Decolonizing America

America was colonized by European nations after 1492.

The following video attempts to explain decolonization in America beginning in 1763. Click on the following link to watch that video: https://youtu.be/ytE-UFKWuZY

After the 13 English colonies gained their independence in 1776, United States (US) President Monroe, in 1823, declared to the Europeans that the US would no longer accept new colonization in America. 75 years later, the US herself would become an imperial power.

Puerto Rico has been a US colony for the past 123 years, in violation to the United Nations’ (UN) Charter of 1945, and 39 UN resolutions asking the US to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001

Puerto Rico is the oldest and most populated colony in the world! We must follow the example of all nations that have gained their independence. We must engage in permanent resistance, until we succeed. www.TodosUnidosDescolonizarPR.blogspot.com

Revolution, and not reformism, is our route to liberty.

Si continuamos haciendo reformas a nuestro colonialismo estadounidense, terminemos perdiendo a nuestro territorio nacional.

“These reports included language that generated controversy in Puerto Rico. For example, the report said that the powers conferred upon Congress under the Territorial Clause of the U.S. Constitution are so expansive that the federal government could cede Puerto Rico to another nation.”

More UN lip service

After World War II and the subsequent Nuremberg Trials to sentence Nazis for war crimes, the United Nations (UN) declared colonialism a crime against humanity. That is in its Charter of 1945.

After 16 years of some UN member states not complying with the prohibition of colonialism, the UN decided to create a committee in 1961, the Decolonization Committee (C-24), to oversee decolonization. https://www.un.org/dppa/decolonization/en/c24/about

After 45 years of some UN member states still not complying with decolonization, the UN decided in 1990 to declare international decades for the eradication of colonialism. https://www.un.org/dppa/decolonization/en/history/international-decades

After 76 years of some UN member states still not complying with decolonization, the UN has once again declared the 4th International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism which began in January 1, 2021. Is this just more UN lip service? Yes. Why?

Next month, in June, the UN should be holding its annual Puerto Rico decolonization hearing usually on the Monday after Fathers’ Day. In these hearings, the C-24 listens to petitioners, many of whom come from Puerto Rico.

At this late date, the UN still has not published in its website how petitioners are to request their participation at that hearing. How are they supposed to make their requests “in good time”? https://www.un.org/dppa/decolonization/en/contact

Through the years, petitioners have asked the UN to put Puerto Rico back on its list of colonies. The UN has refused to.

The UN chooses to call that list, “Non Self-Governing Territories.” It is important to note that the United States (US) government (USG) lied to get Puerto Rico off the list by alleging that she had acquired self-government in 1952.

The UN does not widely publicize the June Puerto Rico decolonization hearing in the media, although New York City has the second largest concentration of Puerto Ricans in the US.

The UN has refused to broadcast live its annual June Puerto Rico decolonization hearing. Click on the following link to watch our live coverage of the 2016 hearing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

Lip service is reformism. Protesting now, tomorrow, and forever to force the USG to comply with international law is revolutionary.

More Boricuas live today away from our national territory than in. Therefore, it is up to us be engage in permanent resistant to decolonize Boriken. If we don’t, we ought to expect more lip service now, tomorrow and forever! www.TodosUnidosDescolonizarPR.blogspot.com

Lip service is cheap!

¿Se podría descolonizar a PR vía reformas?

Imposible.
