How could the US be defending democracy, when she governs exclusively for US oligarchs? How could the US be a democracy when she still has 38 million Americans living in poverty, while 8 of the 10 richest men in the world are US citizens?

How could the People’s Republic of China be authoritarian, when she has already lifted 800 million Chinese out of poverty, despite having 4 times the US’ population?
