Puerto Rico is a US colony, because that is what the US has wanted her to be. The US has consistently refused to comply with 38 United Nations (UN) resolutions demanding the immediate return of Puerto Rico's sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. This refusal constitutes a crime against humanity, which means that the US can't seriously claim to be, like it does, the champion of democracy. Are you aware that 6 million Puerto Ricans, or 2 thirds of the nation, live away from their national territory, because the US has forced them to seek a better life elsewhere. Almost half of the 3 million people in Puerto Rico live in poverty. Bad Bunny made reference to this in his Super Bowl Halftime Show, which infuriated President Trump! That is not prosperity, that is gentrification!
As a result of US brainwashing, half of Puerto Ricans on the island want Puerto Rico to become another state of the US in order to achieve equality with the citizens on the mainland. Little do Puerto Ricans know that 90% of them don't have equality with the top 10% of their fellow Americans on the continent, even though they vote every 4 years.
The fact of the matter is that the US has a 250 year history of despising the rule of law. The US colonial settler rogue state was established by committing genocide against the indigenous people of North America.
In 1935, US Marine Major General Smedley Butler wrote a book, WAR IS A RACKET, where he explained how the US uses war to enrich its oligarchs. A year before that book, a group of oligarchs approached Butler to lead a coup d'etat against President Franklin D. Roosevelt, because they did not want to pay for his New Deal. Although Butler revealed the plot, the US did nothing to the oligarchs!
The UN, therefore, can never fulfill its Charter, as long as the US has veto power over it. The UN has always been used as an instrument of maintaining US hegemony.
The US is governed by the top 10% of its citizens. That is why almost 40 million Americans live in poverty, and another 201 million more live from paycheck to paycheck, while 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are Americans too. 90% of Americans want to MAKE AMERICA A REAL DEMOCRACY, and not just GREAT FOR ONLY 10%!
China, the real champion of democracy, eradicated poverty, despite having 11 trillion dollars less than the US, and having 4 times the US' population. While only 35% of Americans are satisfied with their multiparty "democracy", over 90% of Chinese are satisfied with their government, which proves that a democracy must prohibit oligarchs from running the nation.
The US maintains PR as its colony forever.
