Puerto Rico political prisoner Oscar López Rivera challenges the United States

Clinton challenges Myanmar to expand reforms; meets Suu Kyi | Firstpost

(Click on the above link to read the news)

United States (US) Secretary of State Hilary Clinton in Myanmar said, “We believe that any political prisoner anywhere should be released,” and, “One political prisoner is one too many in our view.”
The United States is quick to tell other countries what they need to do.  But the fact of the matter is, she has no moral grounds to do so!

Oscar López Rivera is the longest held political prisoner in the world!  He has been in a US cell for 31 years for wanting Puerto Rico to be free.  Even Nelson Mandela did not spend that kind of time (27 years)!
He was found guilty of trying to overthrow the US government, not from the US, but from his own country of Puerto Rico!  He has the right to do that under international law.  It is the US that is guilty of a crime against humanity for having Puerto Rico under colonial rule for 114 years.  What does that tell you about US democracy?

If the US wants Myanmar to release her political prisoners, because, in the US' view “One political prisoner is one too many…”, she should lead by example and release all of her own!

President Obama, as a lawyer knows that the US is guilty of international law, yet he continues, just like all the other US presidents since 1898, with business as usual.  Didn’t we all think that he’d be better than that!

I look forward to meeting you at the United Nations’ protest on June 17, 2013, because those who accept colonialism do not believe in justice for all!

Prohibida la complicidad con el invasor de Puerto Rico / Forbidden the complicity with the invader of Puerto Rico

http://www.wventv.com/noticia/2012/10/21/427121-marcha-sindical-prohibido-olvidar.html

On Sunday, October 21, 2012, a protest against the present governor of Puerto Rico (PR) was held called, “Forbidden to Forget”.  The goal was to remind voters of all the bad things Governor Luis Fortuño has done during these last four years, so that they won’t vote for him.  I believe, our memory should go further back than that!

Our problem began with the military invasion of the United States (US) in 1898.  Since then, we have been a colony (one of four) of the US.  PR is the oldest colony in the world, and has the most population than the rest of the other 16 colonies still remaining.  Colonies are obtained for the sole purpose of exploitation.  The disastrous situation we have today is the result of 114 years of US exploitation.  This is what we ought to be forbidden to forget!

But, what do we do?  We play the game that the US would like us to play to keep us a colony forever!  We engage at an 85% electoral participation level in this so called “democracy”.  But, how could there be democracy within a colony?  If we believe it is possible, what does this tell you?  It shows that Puerto Ricans do not know our history?  José Marti said that in order for a People to be free, first it must be cultured.

The US understood José Marti very well!  The first thing she did was begin to teach in English with US teachers.  This is why children still today call their teachers “Mister” or “Misses”.  We were taught US history, and we were hidden our real Puerto Rican history.  Ask any Puerto Rican who is General Antonio Valero de Bernabé to see what his response will be.  He was only Simon Bolivar’s most important general during his liberations of the America from Spanish imperialism.  He was born in Fajardo Puerto Rico.  This October 27, 2012, we will be celebrating his birthday next to his equestrian statue in Fajardo at 9AM.  The public is cordially invited!  As a result of our not having a collective conscious is that we are so divided as to where we ought to be heading.  The only way to correct this is by every Puerto Rican learning his real history, so that we can be cultured and thus worthy of being free.

The other reason for our division is because of the state terrorism by the US to dissuade us from seeking independence for PR.  Some examples of these are:
·         The masacres of  Río Piedras, Utuado y Ponce
·         The assassinations at Cerro Maravilla and the murder of Filiberto Ojeda Ríos
·         Maintaining in prison for 31 years the political prisoner Oscar López Rivera (the longest held political prisoner in the world!) for wanting PR to be free.  This action is in total contradiction to Secretary of State Hilary Clinton’s expression to the world that, “One political prisoner is one too many.”
·         The FBI’s counterintelligence program (COINTELPRO) to intervene with any activity that favors Puerto Rico independence.  For more information, read, “The COINTELPRO Paper, Chapter 4.

It is an outright lie for any US official to say that the US is willing to grant PR whatever political status she wants.  Those of us who don’t know our history will think, “What a   fair thing for the US to do!”  Those of us who do know our history know without the fear of being wrong that, the US, on the contrary, has done all she could to make our culture disappear, and in that way avoid PR from ever reaching her independence.

That’s why; these upcoming elections are meaningless in solving our fundamental problems.  They are because our fundamental problem is that we have no control in our own house!  And as long as this is so, we will never be able to correct our problems!

I encourage all Puerto Ricans to study our real history and to boycott the PR elections and plebiscite.  We should use the United Nations (UN) resolutions already in existence to decolonize ourselves without caring what the US has to say.  We are the ones who have the international right to our self-determination and independence.  It should be obvious by now that the US wants to exploit us forever.  And, should we disappear like the Tainos from this eternal exploitation, better for the US!  After all, that’s what Pedro Albizu Campos warned us about.  He said, “What the US is interested in is the cage, and not the birds.”  What happened to the Native North Americans?  And if we are not in agreement with her plan for us, and if we already know that she really doesn’t believe in justice for all, why continue to collaborate with the US?

I hope you meet you at the UN protest on June 17, 2013!

US democracy: A history of intolerance and exclusion

A Brief History of Intolerance in America « The Fifth Column

Press on the above link to get specific instances depicting the United States (US)’ history of not providing for freedom of speech and justice for all.

All governments, if left unchecked, will end up totalitarian.  Just because a government is called a democracy doesn’t mean it is.  These illustrations, and others, show the same abuse of power that has existed in all undemocratic governments.

It is up to the citizens of a country to make sure that they are represented by their government.  If it is not, what then is the difference between a so called “democracy” and a dictatorship?

Join the protest this June 17, 2014 at the Untied Nations!

Those who practice imperialism do not believe in justice for all

America Imperialisms death toll on the world: 27,000,000+ « Ignorance Is Futile!

Much has been said about The Holocaust, and the Nazi’s extermination of 6 millions Jews.  What an abomination indeed!

Did you know that United States Imperialism has cost the world over 27 millions deaths!    That’s almost 5 times the Holocaust!  That’s a horrific amount of suffering!

Press the above link to get the details.

How can we have peace in the world if, “Justice for All” means it is for just a few?

Is President Clinton’s apology to Hawaii enough?

The Annexation of Hawaii Ceremony held the same year that Puerto Rico became a colony of the United States in 1898.

The Hawaiian Sovereignty Movement: Non-Hawaiians - 3. HISTORY OF HAWAIIAN SOVEREIGNTY MOVEMENT

http://www.pslweb.org/liberationnews/branches/sf/events/hawaii-a-voice-for.html

Click on the above links to learn how the government of the United States acquired the state of Hawaii.  You will realize that, despite the US' assertion that she is a nation that respects the rule of law, she totally disregards it when it stands in the way of what she wants.  US history is an excellent example of, “The end justifies the means.”

There is a Hawaiian movement to gain political independence from the US on the grounds that her annexation was an illegal one without the consent of the Hawaiian People.

We hope to see you at the United Nations’ protest on June 17, 2013!  Those who accept injustice believe in discrimination!

Churches go on record about Puerto Rico’s colonialism

Political Status of Puerto Rico - UMC.org

http://www.ucc.org/justice/advocacy_resources/witness-for-justice/release-oscar-lopez-rivera.html

This is the first time I have seen churches go on record denouncing Puerto Rico’s colonial relationship with the United States.  It represents their conviction to state their belief, and their willingness to accept whatever consequences may result from it.  This is a very courageous thing to do, but so necessary to create the needed changes in our society.

That, in my opinion, is the essence of understanding (education).  It is the willingness to do something about what one understands.  Because if we don’t, what good is understanding?

It is so promising to know that there are people committed to improving our society in whatever way they can!
