Mucha gente

Many people believe that independence for Puerto Rico is a political
status option. They could not be more
wrong! The fact of the matter is that
under international law, which is the only law that has jurisdiction in colonial
cases, independence is an inalienable right.
There is no law on Earth that could take away that right.
That is why, after the United Nations (UN) proclaimed
colonialism to be a crime against humanity, it has issued thus far 33
resolutions asking the United States government to immediately give Puerto Rico
her sovereignty. That is what
decolonization is. And that would then
make Puerto Rico an independent nation like the nearly 200 nations that make up
the United Nations.
Many people believe that the present
relationship with the United States is a political option for Puerto Rico. They too could not be more wrong! That relationship is a crime against
humanity. Puerto Rican cannot choose that
political relationship even if 100% of Puerto Ricans around the world voted for
it. So clearly, colonialism is not permitted
to exist legally.
Some people believe that Puerto Rico should become a state
of the United States (US) of America.
They therefore believe that that is a political option for Puerto
Rico. They are correct. But they are wrong when they believe that as
a colony we could vote for that now. The
only direction for us to go right now is to become an independent nation. It is only
then that we could consider becoming a state of the United States. And even if 100% of all Puerto Ricans around
the world were to vote for that, that wouldn't make it so.
That is because the government of the United States would have to agree
to it. Puerto Rico does not have a right
to be a state of the United States of America, or of any other country.
It is obvious after ignoring 33 UN resolutions that the US government
wants to keep Puerto Rico a colony forever. This is why it is necessary to permanently protest
peacefully at least 3 times a year until the US government complies with these
resolutions. More information late in January 2015.
