see a video of the October 20, 1999 US Senate hearing about President Clinton’s
decision to grant clemency to several Puerto Rican political prisoners for fighting
to decolonize Puerto Rico. The 2 pictures are about the occupation of Puerto Rico following the US military invasion of 1898.
The United States government never recognizes
the fact that it is the US government that is committing the
international crime of maintaining Puerto Rico as its colony. The UN declared colonialism a crime against
humanity in 1960.
The United States government never recognizes its own violence used in its military invasion of Puerto
Rico on July 25, 1898, or the people who died and were wounded as a result of
it. It did not hold a plebiscite to see if Puerto Rico wanted to be a colony of the United States, like it wants others to do, and to renounce the use of violence. When others use violence to achieve their objectives, the US government calls them "radicals and terrorists". Based on what the US government does, one thing is certain, it doesn't really believe in justice for all!
The United States government never recognizes
the fact that under international law it is the US government’s fault for having
ignored 33 United Nations (UN) resolutions asking it to immediately decolonize
Puerto Rico if anyone gets hurt or dies as a result of any possible actions
related to Puerto Rico decolonization. International law states that colonized
people have the right to use whatever means necessary to decolonize themselves.
The US government through its
propaganda wants us to believe that Puerto Rican patriots who fight for the
decolonization are terrorists. But the
fact of the matter is that it is the US government that is the real terrorist
and habitual criminal for continuing to perpetrate this crime against humanity
against the People of Puerto Rico.
This is why, we must peacefully protest at least 3 times a year on a permanent basis until we decolonize Puerto Rico. Join and be a part of the tsunami of people to obligate the US government to comply with the UN resolutions. These marches are necessary because, those who have colonies don’t believe in justice for all! More information late in January 2015.
