Ari Melber,
a lawyer and host of MSNBC’s “The Beat”, makes the point that the public must
keep in mind that insurrection in the United States (US) is a crime, and not a
political debate. US news must cover what happened at the Capitol on January 6,
2021 as a crime against the US government (USG). Regardless of US political
party affiliation, all US citizens should want President Trump arrested and
tried for his crimes. Ari could not be more correct! Click on the following

That same
argument fits perfectly to the USG’s colonial relationship with Puerto Rico. That
is also not a political debate that could be resolved with elections and
plebiscites. Puerto Rico’s colonialism can’t be resolved by the US Congress,
because the USG is the problem. The USG unilaterally made the decision to
militarily invade Puerto Rico to make her its colony in 1898. Where was the
democracy in that!
The fact of
the matter is that the USG is committing a crime against humanity for the past
122 years. But the US news treat it like a political debate.
The USG has
never complied with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter that prohibits colonialism
since 1945. The USG has never complied with 39 UN resolutions asking it to
immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. Where is the
accountability for this crime? http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001/
Therefore,
what white supremacists did at the US Capitol is what Dr. Martin Luther King
Jr. meant when he said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.”

And so is
colonialism!
