Do Americans really want democracy?

If United States (US) citizens really wanted democracy, Dr. Jill Stein was the clear candidate. Citizens, however, voted for Trump. 

Is this the way to rescue almost 40 million Americans who today live in poverty, and 201 million more who live from paycheck to paycheck, while 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are Americans too?

Is this the way to rescue 9 million Puerto Ricans from US imperialism? 6 million Puerto Ricans have abandoned their national territory, and almost half of the 3 million people in Puerto Rico live in poverty too. It is important to mention that the US has consistently ignored 43 United Nations' resolutions demanding the immediate return of Puerto Rico's sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans.
