FBI — Puerto Rican Groups

Ésta es la expresión estándar de cualquier funcionario del gobierno de Estado Unidos (EEUU) sobre el futuro estatus político para Puerto Rico (PR).  ¡Esto suena tan razonable y democrático!  ¿Pero ha actuado EEUU como dice?

EEUU motivó a la legislatura de PR que aprobara la ley 53 del 10 de junio de 1948.  Esta ley se conoció como La Ley de la Mordaza.  Su propósito era callar las gentes para que no se hablara a favor de la independencia de Puerto Rico.  Usted puede aprender más sobre esto en el libro de Ivonne Acosta titulado La Mordaza (1998).  ¡Esta  ley se usó para hasta meter en la cárcel a cualquiera que tenia una bandera puertorriqueña! 

Luego, hubo la guerra secreta del FBI en contra de la independencia de PR.  Arriba esta el enlace a la página del FBI que contiene documentos acerca de este programa de contrainteligencia (COINTELRPO) donde se hacia lo que se tenia que hacer para detener las fuerzas independentista del país. 

Leyendo estos documentos, te hará recordar de una escena en la película El Padrino.  La esposa de Michael trataba de convencerlo de no ser necio a las mentiras, decepciones y asesinatos del crimen organizado.  Michael le responde, “Eso es lo mismo que hace el gobierno.”  Ella no se lo creyó.  El le dice, ¿Ahora, quién esta siendo necia?  Usted también puede leer sobre esto en el libro The COINTELPRO Papers por Ward Churchill y Jim Vander Wall (1990).   El capitulo 4 es acerca de PR.

La Resolución 1514 (XV) de la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU) le da el derecho a toda nación pelear  por su independencia usando cualquier medio posible.  Por lo tanto, EEUU es la que esta violando la ley internacional al impedir a Puerto Rico ejercer su derecho a su  autodeterminación e independencia. 

A pesar de lo que EEUU dice,  lo que has hecho históricamente ha sido todo lo contrario.  Por eso es que cualquier proceso de descolonización de PR que este bajo el control de EEUU estaría igual de engañoso que su expresión estándar.  Tenemos que boicotear las elecciones en noviembre (que es un embuste sobre nuestra democracia) y pedirle a la ONU que descolonice a PR bajo la ley internacional.  ¡Únete a la protesta para ayudarnos lograrlo!

This is the standard line that any United States official will make in reference to the ultimate political status of Puerto Rico (PR).  It sounds so reasonable and democratic!  But has the US government acted according to what it says?

The US encouraged the PR legislature to create Law 53 on June 10^th, 1948.  It became known as, “La Ley de la Mordaza” (The Gag Law).  Its purpose was to keep people from advocating for the independence of Puerto Rico.  You can get more details about this law from Ivonne Acosta’s book called, La Mordaza (1998).  This law gave the government the right to throw you in jail for merely possessing a Puerto Rican flag.

Then there was the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s (FBI) secret war against the independence of PR.  The attached link above will take you to the actual FBI documents about how it did whatever it had to do to dissuade Puerto Ricans from wanting independence for PR. 

Reading these documents will remind readers of a scene in the movie The God Father.  Michael’s wife tries to convince him to stop being naïve to the lying, corruption and killing involvement in organized crime.  Michael replies, “That’s the same thing the government does.”  She refuses to believe him.  He then says, “Now, who’s being naïve?”  You can read about this too in the book The COINTELPRO Papers by Ward Churchill and Jim Vander Wall (1990).  Chapter 4 is on PR.

United Nations’ (UN) Resolution 1514 (XV) gives all nations the right to fight for their independence using whatever means possible.  Therefore, it is the US that is violating international law by interfering with PR's right to self-determination and independence.

Despite what the US government says, its historical actions prove the opposite.  This is why any decolonization process whereby the US has control over is equally as deceptive as its standard line.  This is why we need to boycott the PR elections (which are a lie about having a democracy) and have the UN manage the decolonization process.  Please join the protest and help make it happen!
