Ricardo Rossello was on the Daily Show to talk about
the slow Puerto Rico recovery after Hurricane Maria. Click on the following

Ricardo acknowledged that Puerto Rico is a colony of
the United States (US) government, yet he said that he is proud to be a US
citizen. Shouldn’t those 2 cognates be contradictory? Why isn’t it for Ricardo?
The host asked Ricardo if statehood would be good for
Puerto Rico. His answer would only make some sense to people who not know
history. And unfortunately, most Puerto Ricans don’t know history, because, as
a colony, the US government makes sure that we don’t know what really happened.
Puerto Ricans rejected US citizenship in 1917. The US
government persecuted independence advocates, although they have a right to use
all means necessary to decolonize their homeland. The US government is in
violation of the United Nations’ (UN) Charter by having Puerto Rico as its
colony. The US government has ignored 36 resolutions asking it to immediately
return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. And, contrary to what
Ricardo thinks, Puerto Rico would be a lot better not having been exploited by
the US government for the past 120 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0
It is important to note that the UN resolutions do not
call for a plebiscite to determine what political status Puerto Ricans want.
That would be for them to decide once Puerto Rico becomes decolonized. Therefore,
Puerto Ricans should not allow the US government to divide them with
plebiscites.
All Puerto Ricans should organize themselves to engage
in permanent resistance to force the US government to decolonize Puerto Rico,
because those who hide our history to continue to exploit us don’t believe in
LIBERTY AND IN JUSTICE FOR ALL! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1697349163904877/
