It is important, for those seeking democracy in the US, to realize that the US government has been run by the capitalist class since its beginning. That 10% of US citizens own 80% of the stock market, and is the class that US Major General Smedly Butler spoke of in his 1935 book, WAR IS A RACKET.
That is why almost 40 million Americans today live in poverty, and another 201 million more live from paycheck to paycheck, while 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are also US citizens.
That is why the US Empire has consistently refused to comply with 43 United Nations' resolutions demanding the immediate return of Puerto Rico's sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. 6 million Puerto Ricans have abandoned their national territory (gentrification), and almost half of the 3 million people in Puerto Rico also live in poverty. Bad Bunny made reference to Puerto Rico's colonial relationship with the US in his Super Bowl Halftime Show. That is the real reason why President Trump hated it!
And, that is why the US accuses the People's Republic of China of being authoritarian, when she has been the one to eradicate poverty, despite having 4 times the US' population, and having 11 trillion dollars less. Over 90% of Chinese are satisfied with their one communist party political system, while only 35% of Americans are satisfied with their multiparty "democratic" political system.
Will "We the People" accept US imperialism forever?
