Recientemente, hubo un debate entre los candidatos para la gobernación de Puerto Rico. El candidato por el Partido Popular Democrático (PPD) acusó al del Partido Nuevo Progresista (PNP) de espetarnos con el embeleco del plebiscito sobre nuestro estatus político. Su único propósito es distraer al país de su mala administración por los últimos 4 años.
El candidato del Partido Independentista Puertorriqueño (PIP) dijo que el embeleco más grande ha sido nuestro estatus político actual. Nosotros ni somos estado, ni libre, ni asociado pero así se llama el embeleco. La misma Corte Suprema de Estados Unidos (EEUU) dijo que Puerto Rico le pertenece a, pero no es parte de Estados Unidos. ¿Con que fuerza moral tiene el PPD para acusar al PNP de embelecos?
La verdad es que ambos partidos principales están compuestos de un sistema elaborado de embelecos para mantenernos ignorantes y divididos como pueblo. Por eso, lo que realmente tiene sentido es un boicoteo a las elecciones y plebiscito. El candidato del nuevo Partido del Trabajador parece que entiende esto muy bien.
Él fue el único de los seis que se atrevió a decir lo siguiente. A pesar de que el lema del debate fue, ¡Vota o quédate callado!, el dijo que sabia que habrá electores que decidirán no ir a votar. Para ellos, él los exhortó a involucrarse en actividades que ellos entiendan que ayudaría a sacar a PR de donde estamos. ¡Para mí, ésa fue la gran verdad que se dijo en todo el debate!
¿Para qué botar tú voto en algo que no va a resolver nuestro problema central como país? ¡El coloniaje que hemos estado sometidos por 114 años es el problema principal nacional! Para resolverlo, solo tenemos que exigírselo a la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU). La ONU es la que tiene jurisdicción en este problema. Pero si seguimos validando con nuestra participación el proceso equivocado, la ONU no va a intervenir por su cuenta.
¡Dile no a los embelecos, y si a un proceso de descolonización de verdad!
¡No votes por embelecos puertorriqueños, boicotéalos!
We recently had a debate between the candidates running for governor of Puerto Rico . The Popular Democratic Party (PDP) candidate accused the New Progressive Party (NPP) candidate of using the Status Plebiscite as smoking mirrors to hide his disastrous performance record as governor in the last 4 years.
The Puerto Rican Independence Party (PIP) candidate said that the biggest smoking mirror is our present political status. It is neither a state, nor free, nor associated, yet it is called the “Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico”. The United States (US) Supreme Court said that Puerto Rico belongs to, but is not a part of the US
The fact of the matter is that both principal Puerto Rican parties have elaborate systems of smoking mirrors to keep us ignorant and divided as a people. That’s why; the only thing that makes sense is to boycott the elections and plebiscite. The new Workers Party candidate seems to understand my proposal.
He was the only one out of the six candidates that dared say this in the debate. Although the slogan of the debate was, “Vote, or shut up!” he said he knew that some voter will decide not to vote. To those, he encouraged them to get involved in whatever way they believed would help Puerto Rico get out of the mess she is in. To me, this was the biggest truth that was said in the entire debate!
Why waste your vote, if you can’t resolve the main problem that we have as a people. The colonial relationship that we have had for 114 years is our principal problem that we must overcome. All we have to do to fix it is to ask the United Nations (UN) to decolonize us. The UN is the one that has the jurisdiction to do so. But, as long as we continue to validate the wrong mechanism through our votes, the UN will not intervene on its own.
Say no to the smoking mirrors, and say yes to the real decolonization process!
Don’t vote for smoking mirrors, boycott them!
