What Israel has done, with the unconditional support of the United States (US), is to instead expand the war in Gaza into Lebanon, in order to continue expanding its ethnic cleansing. Summit of the Future: Bonaire’s Cry for Justice – Demanding Self-Determination and an End to Human Rights Violations

Following the participation of our organizations at the United Nations' Summit of the Future in New York, Davika Bissessar president of Bonaire Human Rights Organization and James Finies founder of Bonaire Movement For Change successfully engaged with over 100 world leaders, including Presidents, Prime Ministers, Vice Presidents, first ladies,CEOs, heads of organizations, monarchs, civil-society and youth over the course of the last eight days where the world-leaders united and agreed on “ The Pact for the Future” and not to leave no-one behind. We united in drawing urgent attention to Bonaire’s right to self-determination and the ongoing human rights violations faced by its people.

Part of Bonaire’s Statement to the Summit of the Future:

“Do we have a future? No! Why?

Our education system and our native language, Papiamentu, have been replaced by full colonial language standards to sustain Dutch-European settler colonization. This demotion segregates our children into inferior educational systems—not brain-drain, but brain colonization—forcing them into a colonial system that strips our youth of their human rights and their future.

Since 2010, we have experienced systemic and institutionalized depopulation and eradication of our people. By 2017, our population was reduced to less than 40%, and today, in 2024, we are less than 32%, a minority in our own homeland. As a colonized people, we are powerless to stop this. We are disappearing, and the world is witnessing it.

Our Recommendation:

Are we part of the forgotten ones, the ones left behind? Today, we call for solidarity from the Summit of the Future. We urge you to join COPPPAL and CARICOM revised 10 point-plan and the Baku Initiative Group in their fight against present-day colonialism and for reparations. Please adopt Bonaire as a project of the future – “Save the Bonerians, not only climate-crisis”

Our Message:

Self-Determination: Bonaire has the inalienable right to determine its own political future, free from external control. This fundamental right is being denied, in violation of international law and the United Nations' principles of equality and justice.

Our Call to Action:

We demand that the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the international community respect Bonaire’s right to self-determination and that Bonaire be reinstated on the list of United Nations Non-Self-Governing Territories.

Immediate action is needed to address human rights abuses and ensure fair representation and access to resources.

We urge the United Nations and international bodies to provide oversight and hold all parties accountable.

We call upon the semi-autonomous Dutch islands of Aruba, Curaçao, and Sint Maarten to support the fact that Bonaire never chose to be expelled from the Kingdom Charter or “Statuut” and neither to be embedded in the Dutch Constitution. We urge our sister islands to stand with Bonaire in its rightful pursuit of self-determination and to support their brothers and sisters in this struggle for justice and self-government.

The people of Bonaire deserve justice, dignity, and the ability to determine their own future.

Conversely, only 33% of Americans are satisfied with our government.

Baku Initiave Group (BIG) calls on Netherlands to respect freedom of Caribbean Islands

The Baku Initiative Group (BIG) that recently signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Bonaire Human Rights and Bonaire Movement for Change has called on the Dutch government to respect the freedom of the peoples it has long held under colonial rule and to stop creating obstacles to the islands' struggle for independence within international organizations.

The Dutch government recently submitted a new program to the country's parliament. The program was approved by the Cabinet of Ministers and must now be discussed and approved in parliament.

The statement by the BIG reads:

“The Netherlands, a colonial country for centuries, failed to show even the slightest indication that it would respect the freedom of the peoples it has held in captivity and remove the barriers it has imposed on the independent living of territories located tens of thousands of kilometers away.

The parties forming the new Dutch government - the Freedom Party, the People's Party for Freedom and Democracy, the New Social Contract, and the Farmer-Citizen Movement - claim to fight for ‘freedom’ in their charters, yet continue to stifle the freedoms of the peoples of the 6 states located in the Caribbean - Aruba, Curacao, Sint Maarten, Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba.

The new program submitted by the government claims it will implement legislative and strategic initiatives aimed at increasing the welfare of the islands based on the principles of good governance and cooperation in Bonaire, Sint Eustatius, and Saba. A General Administrative Law will be prepared for this, which envisages the application of the ‘comply and explain’ principle.

Thus, the new right-wing nationalist Cabinet of Ministers of the Netherlands is preparing to continue the colonial policy of the previous government. Although the government claims that some of these islands have autonomous status, in fact these territories have been made completely dependent on the Kingdom of the Netherlands. These islands have even been removed from the UN list of territories to be decolonized.

An international conference titled ‘Bonaire’s pathway from Baku through UN General Assembly to self-determination’ was held in Baku on August 22 this year to bring the real situation in the Dutch colonies to the attention of the world community.

These peoples fighting for their freedom, especially the island of Bonaire, plan to submit a draft resolution to the UN General Assembly in October this year to re-include it in the UN list of territories to be decolonized.

The Baku Initiative Group demands that the Dutch government respect the freedom of peoples and not create obstacles to the islands’ struggle for independence within the framework of international organizations.”

US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm said that the US is very concerned about depending on China, whose value we may not share, for rare earth minerals and materials. She was referring to the US’ imperialism of win- lose relationship with other nations, versus China’s socialism of win-win. This can be seen today with the US’ unconditional support of the genocide against the indigenous people of Palestine, against international law, and similarly, with the US’ consistent refusal to comply with 42 United Nations’ resolutions demanding that it immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans.

That is why China has already eradicated poverty, despite having 4 times the US’ population. And that is why 90% of Chinese are satisfied with their government. If that is not democracy, I don’t know what is!

That has permitted China to have already eradicated poverty, despite having 4 times the US’ population. Unlike the US, China would never sponsor the genocide of the indigenous people of Palestine, or any other people!

We need to learn about capitalism and communism in order to organize ourselves to engage in permanent resistance to save ourselves and our planet. Moving from imperialism to democracy is up to us.

The US today is the world’s mafia, trying to hide behind the façade of being the champion of democracy. The US hates any nation that tries to govern for its own people. Those nations are the ones that the US imposes unilateral and illegal economic sanctions.

De-dollarization is the most effective way for the 75% of the world that wants to avoid falling prey to US imperialism, because it impedes the US’ ability to steal the wealth of the global majority.

The People Republic of China, whom the US considers its enemy, has eradicated poverty since 2020, despite having 4 times US’ population. We are talking about 850 million Chinese, which makes up almost 3 times the entire population of the US! If China is not a democracy, nobody is!

Can the new multi-polar world order, led by the BRICS nations, create the democracy that the global majority long for? We hope so! Of course, there is always the possibility that the neoconservatives, who are sick people, might decide to press the red button, and kill us all.

The Great Depression of 1933 caused by capitalism was addressed by President Roosevelt redistributing the wealth to the citizens. That was the US period of democracy! The oligarchs, however, forced to pay for that, decided to try to coup the president.

The 2008 Recession, however, was addressed in the opposite manner, by redistributing the wealth to the oligarchs, and leaving the 99% of Americans to fend for ourselves.

Neoliberalism is another word for US imperialism.
