US prioritizes imperialism over democracy

The US has sent to Israel, since October 7, 2023, 18 billion dollars to commit genocide against the indigenous people of Palestine against international law. What has the US done to attend to the needs of Americans? Nothing!

Aside from the devastation that US citizens are confronting today due to the hurricanes, 38 million live in poverty, and 60% live from paycheck to paycheck. The first duty of any government is to protect its citizens, and only 33% of Americans are satisfied with our government. Conversely, Chinese citizens are 90% satisfied with their government, despite the US claiming that they don’t live in a democracy. Shouldn’t the citizens themselves decide that?

US imperialism is clearly evident in the US’ consistent refusal to comply with 42 United Nations’ resolutions demanding that it immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. Is the US doing that to provide democracy for Puerto Ricans, or wealth to its oligarchs?

During the past 126 years of US colonialism in Puerto Rico, two thirds of Puerto Ricans live away from our national territory, and half of those remaining live in poverty.

The American Dream is alive for oligarchs, but it’s a nightmare for everybody else.

Can we force democracy on the oligarchs?
