Decolonize PR via elections

Most Puerto Ricans believe that the way to decolonize Puerto Rico is via elections. The following is an example of that.

Puerto Rican Independence
and the 2024 Election

Our first event of the year in the BUDPR Education & Engagement Series is here! Join us this Friday August 16 at 6pm ET for a conversation about the rise in support for Puerto Rican independence, critical shifts in Puerto Rican politics, and the 2024 election in Puerto Rico.

Our guest will be Adrián González Costa, a candidate for Senate from the Puerto Rican Independence Party running as part of the Alianza in this November's election.

We're excited to bring you this event in partnership with the Diaspórica podcast. See you there!

Right now, however, most United States (US) citizens are opposed to our nation’s unconditional support of the artificial colonial settler regime of Israel in its genocide against the indigenous people of Palestine, and yet it continues. Both Republican and Democratic Party candidates running for president are for the continuation of that support. Therefore, the US is an oligarchy, and not a democracy!

Thus, the US is the only one opposing a free and prosperous Puerto Rico by refusing to comply with 42 United Nations’ resolutions demanding that it immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. . https://webtv.un.org/en/asset/k1w/k1wb1xdn6i https://webtv.un.org/en/asset/k15/k154ku9q8x

The growing support for independence is because two thirds of Puerto Ricans live today away from our national territory, and half of those remaining in Boriken live in poverty. Since this problem is the result to a violation of international law, and is not a political election issue, the 9 million Boricuas worldwide should correct it by permanently engaging in resistance to force the US to comply with international law.

Elections don’t mean anything in an oligarchy.

¿Cómo se descolonizará a Borikén? / How will Borikén be decolonized?

Comrade Miguel Reyes Walker gave an excellent talk about the decolonization of Borikén on Saturday, June 16, 2016 in front of the United States (US) Courthouse in Puerto Rico.  Click on the following link to watch the entire discussion: https://youtu.be/bXWSLr0DAv4 .  If you believe it contains important information, please pass it along to your contacts.

Our decolonization will not be achieved through the Puerto Rico’s electoral colonial process.  The students who have occupied the US Courthouse in Puerto Rico have correctly identified the correct way to our national liberation.

It will not be easy to reverse 118 years of Boricua exploitation.  The US government knows that Borikén is in the most ideal location in the world, and it wants to hold on to Borikén forever.  Our struggle will be long and difficult.  But, with our intelligence, our continued and peaceful protest and perseverance, one day we will enjoy a free and sovereign Borikén.
The struggle must be hard, because those who colonize don't believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!
