Slavery, feudalism and capitalism could never lead to democracy, because only a small group of people benefit from those arrangements. The best way to create democracy is to bring democracy into the workplace. The United States (US) claims that it is the champion of democracy, despite having 40 million Americans living in poverty, and 201 million more living from paycheck to paycheck. In reality, the US is the champion of imperialism, as 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are US citizens.
Moreover, the US has consistently refused to comply with 42 United Nations' resolutions demanding the immediate return of Puerto Rico's sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. And in the meantime, 6 million Puerto Ricans have abandoned our national territory (gentrification), and half of the 3 million people in Puerto Rico live in poverty.
3% of the people are employers. If the 97% of the employees responsible for the production of goods and services could understand the importance of democratizing the workplace, and engage in permanent resistance to force that change, we could finally liberate ourselves from imperialism.
We must organize ourselves first!
