Many people don’t know that the airwaves belong to the people. In the United States (US), the airwaves are controlled by the wealthy. That 1% uses the media, just like the Nazi’s did, to brainwash US citizens to behave in the way that it could make them wealthier.

The US is not a democracy. The United States Government does not represent 100% of its citizens. It represents the wealthy 1%. So, why do US citizens vote in their elections?

Why do you think that the US is the only industrialized nation that does not have a universal health care system to insure that every citizen has that essential and crucial service? Do you really believe that it is because the majority of US citizens are opposed to it? The 1% is opposed to it, because controlling health care makes them wealthier.

The next United Nations’ (UN) hearing to discuss Puerto Rico decolonization will be on Monday, June 17, 2019. The UN is concluding its 3^rd decade supposedly “trying to eradicate world colonialism”. As that date approaches, you will witness for yourself that the US free press won’t touch that news with a 10 foot pole! Even worse, the UN won’t either! How do US citizens decolonize their minds? You will have to do that on your own like Snowden did.

Professor Noam Chomsky was a guest on Ralph Nader's radio program on March 2, 2019. Chomsky spoke about several topics including the public’s ownership of the airwaves. The 1% uses the airways to indoctrinate the public in a way to generate even more wealth for itself! Here is an excellent example this.

Puerto Rico has been a US colony since 1898. After World War II, the United Nations (UN) was created in 1945.

The UN Charter prohibits colonialism. The United States Government (USG), never the less, has violated the UN Charter with impunity for the past 73 years! Moreover, the USG has ignored 37 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. What has the US free press done? Nothing! Here is another excellent example of that!

The UN holds a hearing to discuss Puerto Rico decolonization every year. It is held usually on the Monday after Fathers’ Day. The US media, however, does not report it! Moreover, even the UN itself does not regularly broadcast these hearing live to the public! Obliviously, it is to the advantage of the 1% to continue exploiting Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans forever! The television investigative reporting program 60 Minutes could easily win another Emmy if it would feature Puerto Rico 120 year history of being a US colony, but it won’t touch that with a 10 foot pole! I know, because I suggested it. 60 Minutes ignored me. Why?

I know that the 4.3 million Puerto Ricans who were forced to leave their national territory because there were no opportunities there for them would be interested in such a news story. I know that the 3.4 million Puerto Ricans who refuse to abandon our homeland would welcome it too. But, the 1% would lose so much illegal benefits if Puerto Rico were decolonized that 60 minutes is willing to sacrifice that Emmy.

Therefore, like Chomsky said, the answer is to educate ourselves to engage in permanent resistance to force the government to represent the 100% of the people the way it is supposed to be. The fear of the 1% is the education of the 99%.

USA’s path towards world domination

United States’ (US) renowned linguist, intellectual and activist Professor Noam Chomsky talked about the untold history of US hegemony and influence around the world.

Those were among the many challenges that the United States (US) faced when formal legal segregation ended in the South due to its Supreme Court decision in the Brown vs. Board of Education Case. Those segregation laws were known as Jim Crow Laws. They existed from the end of the Civil War to the court’s decision and the birth of the Civil Rights Movement.

In Professor Daniel Immerwahr’s new book, “The hiding of an Empire”, he says that US imperialism did not begin with the American – Spanish War of 1898. The United States Government’s (USG) had already embarked in colonialism through its Northwest Ordinances. These ordinances required that every new territory must be populated with a majority of Whites before it could be admitted into the Union. Therefore, from the very beginning, the USG was on a premeditated path to becoming an empire. All nations that become empires believe that they are superior to others.  If one listens to Dr. Martin Luther King’s speeches, you will notice that by 1967 he realized that US racism was more ingrained into its national fabric than he thought at the time of his historic “I have a Dream” speech in Washington DC.

The Invisible US Empire

The majority of United States (US) citizens are oblivious to the fact that their country is an empire.

Daniel Immerwahr, an associate history professor at Northwestern University, wrote a book on this subject called, How to hide an empire: A history of the Greater United States. It is important to highlight that the US Empire doesn’t begin with the American – Spanish War of 1898. The author explains that, as the US expanded westward, the territories converted into states were the ones populated by a majority of Whites. He categorized that as a form of internal colonization. 

Another interesting revelation that the historian makes is that the United States Government (USG), prior to 1910, was comfortable with saying that it had colonies. But after that, it decided to use instead the word “territories” when speaking of them in order to be more politically correct.

I propose that Democracy Now make an important contribution in decolonizing Puerto Rico by making a commitment to broadcast live every year the United Nations’ (UN) annual Puerto Rico decolonization hearing. These hearing have never been broadcasted live on a regular basis. This has been one of the ways that, like the author’s thesis of his book, the Unite States government has tried to hide 120 years of Puerto Rico being its colony.
