The problem with the narrative
of this video about “How the Insular Cases have prolonged colonialism in Puerto
Rico” is that it speaks of Puerto Rico decolonization within the structure totally
created by the United States (US) to keep us colonized. Please click on the
following link to watch that video: https://youtu.be/RSMGsF5LYac
It is important to note that
125 years of Puerto Rico colonialism has resulted in that more Puerto Ricans
today live away from our national territory. And, half of the Puerto Ricans who
have refused to abandon our homeland live in poverty as we speak.
It is equally important to
mention that 38 million Americans also live today in poverty, while 8 of the 10
richest men in the world are US citizens. For whom is a more perfect Union being
created?
The US’ military invasion of
Puerto Rico in 1898 was to make US oligarchs richer. Colonialism is a crime
against humanity, so why must we allow the US, the criminal, to make the rules
to decolonize Puerto Rico? The US, on the contrary, wants Puerto Rico to be her
colony now, tomorrow and forever!
Most people don’t know that
the US has ignored 41 United Nations (UN) resolutions asking her to immediately
return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. This month, the UN will
once again hold its annual Puerto Rico decolonization hearing, and again issue
yet another similar resolution. Does that sound like the US is the champion of
democracy, or the champion of plutocracy? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0
Did the US teach Boricuas
democracy, by unilaterally invading Puerto Rico militarily to make her a
colony? It is, then, insane, to believe that Puerto Rico decolonization could
occur via an electoral process. There is no democracy in the US, and even less
in a US colony. Therefore, it is incumbent on the 9 million Puerto Ricans
worldwide to instead engage in permanent resistance to force the US to comply
with international law.
We will need to create our own
perfect Union to free ourselves!
