& Events, Special Committee on Decolonization (C-24), 8th
plenary meeting, 2023, resumed session. The Special Committee on the situation
with regard to the implementation of the declaration on the granting of
independence to colonial countries and people is also known as the Special
Committee on Decolonization or C-24. The 2023 resumed session will meet in New
York from 12-23 June.”
The United Nations (UN) held yesterday
its annual hearing on Puerto Rico decolonization. Most people don’t know this!
These hearings are neither publicized
in the United States (US) nor in Puerto Rico.
You would think that in a real US
democracy with a free press, and the fact that two thirds of Puerto Ricans live
already in the US, that Puerto Rico decolonization would be pertinent news. But
not for the US.
You would also think that in Puerto
Rico, being a US colony for the past 125 years, would broadcast live these
annual hearings, because that constitutes a crime against humanity. But not for
Puerto Rico.
And you would think that surely the UN
would publicize its hearings, being that the US has repeatedly ignored 41 UN
resolutions asking her to immediately return Puerto Rico sovereignty to the
Puerto Ricans, but not for the UN either.
If someone were to discover on his own
the date of the hearing, the UN makes it very difficult to watch it on its UN
Web TV by not naming the hearing Puerto Rico. This is how the UN
identified the Puerto Rico decolonization hearing for Thursday, June 22, 2023:
“10 AM, Meetings
& Events, Special Committee on Decolonization (C-24), 8th
plenary meeting, 2023, resumed session. The Special Committee on the situation
with regard to the implementation of the declaration on the granting of
independence to colonial countries and people is also known as the Special
Committee on Decolonization or C-24. The 2023 resumed session will meet in New
York from 12-23 June.”
It is important to mention that half of
the one third of Boricuas who have refused to abandon our national territory,
live in poverty.
Therefore, the 9 million Boricuas
worldwide should engage in permanent resistance to force the US to comply with
international law.
End the mystery with resistance!
