Puertorriqueños que no quieren hablar del Problema / Puerto Ricans who don’t want to talk about the problem

 

¿Cómo es posible resolver un problema sin discutirlo?  Así lo quieren hacer en Florida para llegar a un consenso de la diáspora puertorriqueños sobre los problemas que tenemos acá y allá. 

¡El problema con esa estrategia es que nuestro problema es precisamente que somos una colonia!  Si no reconocemos esa realidad y luchamos juntos para descolonizarnos, todo lo otro es engañarnos.

¿Por qué no mejor protestamos todos pacíficamente para que el gobierno de Estados Unidos cumpla con las 34 resoluciones de la Organización de Naciones Unidas pidiéndole la descolonización inmediata de Puerto Rico?  Eso sería hacer algo específicamente dirigido a la raíz del problema que hemos sufrido por 117 años.  Después de tanto tiempo, debe ser obvio que el gobierno de Estados Unidos nos quiere de colonia para siempre.  ¿Qué esperamos?

 

How is it possible to resolve a problem without talking about it?  This is what some want to do in Florida to arrive at a Puerto Rican diaspora consensus about the many problems that we face both here and there.   

The problem with that is that our problem is precisely that we are a colony!  If we don’t realize that, and struggle to decolonize ourselves, everything else is just fooling ourselves.

Why don’t we all protest peacefully to force the United States government to comply with the 34 United Nations resolutions asking it to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico? That would be doing something specifically directed at the root of our 117 year old problem.  After that many years, it should be obvious that the US government wants to keep us a colony forever!  What are we waiting for?
