El Centro Puertorriqueño de Hunter College celebró el
viernes, 10 de noviembre de 2017 una conferencia para discutir cómo los puertorriqueños
podemos involucrarnos para ayudar a nuestra isla.

El director del Centro dijo que estas conferencias se
iniciaron hace 2 años cuando Puerto Rico empezó a tener problemas financieros.
Su manifestación demuestra a una persona que necesita despertarse.
El problema financiero de Borikén empezó en 1493 con
la conquista de España. Eso duró 405 años.
Luego, nuestro problema financiero continuó a un ritmo
más acelerado bajo el imperio de Estados Unidos por los últimos 120 años.
No importa cuanta ayuda le demos, Puerto Rico siempre estará
en una crisis financiera porque nosotros no estamos corrigiendo el problema de
verdad.
Nadie en la entrevista mencionó el hecho de que Puerto
Rico es una colonia del gobierno de Estados Unidos. ¿Debemos de creer que eso
tiene nada que ver con nuestro problema financiero? ¡Eso tiene todo que ver!
¿Por qué no se mencionó? ¿Cómo podemos arreglar el
problema si no reconocemos el problema?
Tenemos que informarnos, porque los que nos quieren
mantener colonizados para siempre nunca lo hará.

de Naciones Unidas pidiéndole que le entregue inmediatamente la soberanía de

Its director
said that these conferences began 2 years ago, when Puerto Rico started having
financial problems. That statement is indicative of someone who needs to wake
up.
Borikén’s
financial problems began in 1493 with Spain’s conquest of our island. That
lasted 405 years.
Then, our
financial problems continued at a more accelerated level of exploitation under United
States imperialism for the past 120 years.
No matter how
much help you give, Puerto Rico will always be in a financial crisis because we
are not correcting the real problem.
No one in
the interview mentioned the fact that Puerto Rico is a colony of the United
States. Are we to believe that that has nothing to do with Puerto Rico’s financial
problem? It has everything to do with it!
Why wasn’t
it mentioned? How could we solve the problem, if we don’t even acknowledge what
the problem is?
We need to
inform ourselves, because those who want to maintain Puerto Rico as a US colony
forever will never do so.
