Escape capitalism for democracy

The people of the West have been brainwashed to believe that capitalism is democracy. If that were true, why is it that today, in the so-called "champion of democracy", almost 40 million Americans live in poverty, and 201 million more live from paycheck to paycheck, while 9 of the 10 richest men in the world are Ameicans too? Similarly, the United States (US) Empire has consistently refused to comply with 43 United Nations resolutions demanding the immediate return of Puerto Rico's sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. 6 million Puerto Ricans have abandoned their national territory (gentrification), and almost half of the 3 million people in Puerto Rico also live in poverty.

Conversely, the People's Republic of China, whom the US calls authoritative, eradicated poverty 6 years ago, despite having 4 times the US' population, and having 11 trillion dollars less than the US. Over 90% of Chinese are satisfied with their one communist party political system, versus only 35% of Americans who are satisfied with their multiparty "democratic" political system.
