How to identify a colonized mind?

A colonized mind is one that the empire has shaped to accept its colonial condition, and to not engage in intelligent resistance in order decolonize itself. The first thing the empire does is hide its real history.

The United States Government (USG) has taught Puerto Ricans during these last 120 years the history that it wants them to know. That is why Puerto Ricans are still colonized. Simon Bolivar said that it is easier to colonize with the mind than with the sword.

A colonized person will say:

1. Puerto Rico has her own government.

2. Puerto Rico is a democracy.

3. Puerto Ricans have rights.

4.  Puerto Rico is part of the United States (US).

5. We must protest against the Puerto Rico government to show that we disapprove of what it is doing!

If Puerto Ricans knew their real history, they would realize that:

1. The USG has a colonial administration to govern Puerto Rico for its own interest.

2. Puerto Rico is a US colony since 1898.

3. Puerto Ricans have no right that the USG has to respect. That is why Puerto Rico is an un- incorporated territory of the US. That status allows the USG to do whatever it wants with Puerto Rico and Puerto Ricans.

4. Puerto Rico belongs to, but is not a part of the US according to the US Supreme Court.

5. Puerto Ricans would have to engage in resistance against the USG in order to decolonize themselves. Puerto Ricans do nothing by protesting against another Puerto Rican!

Almost nobody in Puerto Rico knows that the USG classified Puerto Ricans as an inferior race in 1898. That is why the USG put Puerto Rico in the category of the un-incorporated territories. Almost nobody in Puerto Rico knows that the USG has violated the United Nations’ (UN) Charter of 1945 for the past 73 years. That Charter prohibits colonialism, and was signed by the USG.

And, almost nobody in Puerto Rico knows that the USG refuses to decolonize Puerto Rico, because she is an important resource for the wealth of its empire. The USG will never decolonize Puerto Rico on its own!
