Puerto Rican Political Prisoner

Click on the above link to read a recent article about Puerto Rican political prisoner Oscar Lopez Rivera.

Francis Torres wrote this outstanding article about Oscar Lopez Rivera.  It contains the latest developments in the intensification of the pressure to free Oscar from 32 years of imprisonment for wanting to decolonize Puerto Rico. I am so proud of this young writer who wrote so eloquently about Oscar's comparison to Nelson Mandela.

Francis Torres was brilliant in ending his article by putting the ball on President Obama's court.  After his recent visit to the prison where Nelson Mandela was held, and writing those words in the visitors' log book, a lot will be said about whether or not President Obama releases Oscar from prison.

Isn't it amazing that a United States President who won a Nobel Peace Prize in 2009 would need all this domestic and international pressure to free Oscar?  Shouldn't he have done so when he first took office simply on the merits of his case?

Join us in 2 peaceful protests a year until Puerto Rico is decolonized, because those who accept colonialism don't believe in justice for all!
