A divided USA

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. gave a powerful and convincing speech in 1967 about 2 Americas. The one that has the American Dream, and the other that could be called the American Nightmare where the United States Government (USG) puts all others.

The USG placed Blacks, Puerto Ricans and others it considers inferior in the American Nightmare. Dr. King was assassinated the following year of this speech. Click on the following link to watch the video: https://youtu.be/m3H978KlR20

These 2 Americas still exist today, because racists still control the USG. At the time of Dr. King’s assassination in 1968, the USG had already, for 23 years, consistently violated the United Nations’ Charter of 1945 prohibiting colonialism. It is important to note that King said that he became aware by 1967 that the same Whites who had supported the Civil Rights Movement in the South for desegregation and voting rights were not supportive of the struggle for real equality for Blacks. It was then when he realized how ingrained racism exists in the United States (US)!

Dr. King said in his speech that time alone will not solve US racism. The fact of the matter is that since its creation the USG has never had the desire to rid itself of racism. It hasn’t, because racism translated into slavery and colonialism is what creates the huge profits for the 1% of the privileged class in the US.   

Thus, the biggest fear of the US’ 1% is the education of the 99%, because that would eventually enable us to revolt against our oppressors.

Therefore, it is incumbent on all of us to educate ourselves to create the unity necessary to engage in the kind of permanent resistance that will force the USG to have one America. That one America was precisely the dream that Dr. King wanted so much to see one day!
