Why is colonialism a crime against humanity?

Have you ever heard of …?

1. You can’t save people from themselves
2. A mind is a terrible thing to waste
3. You can lead a horse to water, but you can’t make him drink it
4. Those who can’t remember their history are condemned to relive it

Colonialism is a crime, because it fosters the development of all of the above. Here is how.

The colonizer must maintain the colonized ignorant, so that he doesn’t realize that he is being victimized. Here is a good example.

Many Puerto Ricans don’t know that our country is a colony of the United States (US) Government (USG)! Many believe that Puerto Rico is a democracy, and that if we don’t vote, then others will make decisions for us. Many of us believe that, because the USG controls everything in Puerto Rico.

The US schools, therefore, don’t teach us that Puerto Ricans have no right that the USG has to respect. The USG uses the Treaty of Paris of 1898 to justify its control over Puerto Rico.

The USG went to war in 1898 to take away Puerto Rico, Cuba, Guam and the Philippines from Spain. Spain saw that coming, and offered Cuba and Puerto Rico self-government in 1897. Cuba refused it, because she wanted to continue fighting for her independence. Puerto Rico, however, accepted her offer to become a province of Spain. At the time of the US’ military invasion, Puerto Rico had real self-government via the 1897 Autonomic Charter with Spain.

The USG totally ignored this, and forced Spain to sign the Treaty of Paris that ceded Puerto Rico to the USG. The treaty contained language that basically says that Puerto Ricans have no rights that the USG has to respect. Click on this link for more: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dRHGdhRBG1M&t=15s

Puerto Rico has been a US colony for the past 121 years, because most Puerto Ricans don’t know our real history. And this oblivion has resulted in that more Puerto Ricans live away from our homeland, due to a designed lack of opportunities for us in our national territory.

Our salvation lies in learning our past, and pushing for our decolonization. We could then activate the almost 9 million Puerto Ricans worldwide to engage in permanent resistance to force the USG to comply with the United Nations’ (UN) Charter of 1945 that prohibits colonialism, and the 38 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans. http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001/

There is no time to waste, because those who have committed a crime against humanity for over a century, don’t believe in LIBERTY AND IN JUSTICE FOR ALL! https://www.facebook.com/groups/1697349163904877/
