The Beaches are Public Coalition had a press conference on Wednesday, March 9, 2015 at 11 AM to invite the public to celebrate 11 years of defending 5 acres of our beach from the government’s intention to privatize it in favor of the Courtyard Marriott Hotel in Isla Verde, Carolina, Puerto Rico. During these 11 years, the coalition has developed an impressive forest in this area that has attracted marine and wildlife.
The coalition said that it will not be defeated. If the government persists in privatizing this public land and destroying our beach forest, the controversy will become another Peace for Vieques!
Come and celebrate the people’s victory this Saturday, March 12, 2016 at our campsite on route 187 next to the Courtyard Marriott Hotel. We put 2 Puerto Rican flags to identify our camp! If you wish to help our project, you could make a donation in the box at the campsite.
What a shame that the government represents only 1 % of its residents, and ignores most of the People of Puerto Rico! You cannot call this democracy. These peaceful protests are important, because those whose ignore 99% of their citizens don’t believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!
