Puerto Rico decolonization hearing live

This year’s Puerto Rico decolonization hearing at the United Nations (UN) will be on Monday, June 22, 2020. Would you like to watch or hear it live?

Last year, we managed to get the UN to broadcast it live. We were surprised, however, to realize that the UN only broadcasted the morning session. Why would the UN not broadcast the entire hearing? Click on the following link to watch it: http://webtv.un.org/watch/5th-meeting-committee-of-24-special-committee-on-decolonization/6051725003001/

We managed to broadcast the entire 2016 hearing live, after the UN refused to answer our petition to do so in 2015. Click on the following link to watch our broadcast: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=otzBslJLbI0

We would like everyone to help us push the UN this year to broadcast live the entire hearing. We feel that the UN ought to do that on its own accord, but refuses to. What the UN usually does is make the video available on the following day of the hearing on its WEBCAST. That is unacceptable to us!

Please help us pressure the UN to broadcast this year’s entire hearing by emailing the UN’s Decolonization Committee’s Chairperson Keisha Aniya McGuire at: reyes1@un.org.

The United States Government (USG) has refused to comply with the UN’s Charter which prohibits colonialism since 1945 with impunity. Moreover, the USG has ignored 38 UN resolutions asking it to immediately return Puerto Rico’s sovereignty to the Puerto Ricans.

Puerto Rico is the oldest and most populated colony in the world. The USG managed to get her off the UN’s list of colonies in 1953 through deceit. Lamentably, the UN has refused to return Puerto Rico to its list of colonies.

The following is a short video about how Puerto Rico became a colony of the USG: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ARvdJV8nsUw&t=17s

The press does not publicize these annual hearings. This is why it is imperative that the UN broadcast these hearings live, so that the public could become aware of the USG’s crime against humanity.

This is the last year of the UN’s Third International Decade for the Eradication of Colonialism.

We will be marching from Grand Central Station to the UN on the day of the hearing to call attention to the USG’s refusal to respect Puerto Ricans' inalienable right to self-determination and independence.
