¿Qué pasó con la ponencia de José? Parte 2. / What happened to José’s petition? Part 2.

El Comité de Descolonización (C-24) de la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU) no me permitió hacer mi ponencia este año en la vista sobre la descolonización de Puerto Rico el lunes, 20 de junio de 2016.  La razón que me dio el secretario del Comité fue que mi nombre no estaba en la lista de peticionarios.   Oprima el siguiente enlace para ver la entrevista sobre esto:

Le solicité al presidente del Comité que se investigue lo que me paso ya que tengo evidencia contundente de que solicité correctamente para estar en esa lista.  A pesar de que envié  mi querella a los 3 secretarios del C-24, y envié además una copia dura directamente al presidente del C-24 por correo convencional con acuse de recibo, no he recibido confirmación de que mi querella se recibió.  Recibí devuelta después de un mes la carta dura el 22 de julio de 2016.  Eso me hace entender que el C-24 ha decidido no atender mi querella, porque sabe que yo estoy en lo correcto.

 

Le envié una carta al secretario general de la ONU para insistir en dicha investigación.  La importancia de este asunto es saber:

·         ¿Por qué el C-24 me excluyó de su lista de peticionarios este año?

·         ¿Estaré excluido nuevamente de la lista el año que viene?

·         ¿Ayuda o perjudica este comportamiento del C-24 a la descolonización de Puerto Rico?    

La única razón que se me ocurre por la cual el Comité me pueda haber excluido de su lista es por estar involucrado en lograr la transmisión en vivo por radio y televisión de la vista este año.

El C-24 no permite que el público en general asista a esta vista anual sobre la descolonización de Puerto Rico.  He criticado esta decisión en mis ponencias anteriores.  También he criticado que el C-24 no transmite en vivo estas vistas por radio y televisión.  Uno esperaría que el C-24 transmitiera estas vistas para presionar al gobierno de Estados Unidos a cumplir con sus 35 resoluciones pidiéndole que descolonice inmediatamente a Puerto Rico.  Más aun, estando en su tercera década tratando de erradicar el colonialismo, uno esperaría que el C-24 estuviera dispuesto a recibir toda la ayuda posible para poder hacer el trabajo.

Estamos ahora esperando que va hacer el secretario general.  Lo que finalmente haga o no haga el secretario general dirá mucho sobre cuán comprometido esta la ONU en realmente erradicar el colonialismo.

Independientemente de lo que pase con mi investigación, es obvio que todo el mundo que este comprometido con la descolonización de Puerto Rico se tiene que involucrar en este proceso.  Los que piensen que el proceso para la descolonización de Puerto Rico está bien encarrilado a eso están muy equivocado.

¡Esta lucha se decidirá en la calle como lo están haciendo los estudiantes en el Campamento Contra La Junta en la Calle Chardón de Puerto Rico, porque los que colonizan no creen en la JUSTICIA PARA TODOS!

The United Nations’ (UN) Decolonization Committee (C-24) did not allow me to give my petition at this year’s Puerto Rico decolonization hearing on Monday, June 20, 2016.  The reason that the C-24 secretary gave was that I was not on the list of petitioners.  Click here to watch the interview about it:  https://youtu.be/uAr6Ot0gDbw

I requested from the C-24 president that an investigation be done, since I have clear evidence that I requested correctly to be on that list.  Despite the fact that I emailed my complaint to the three C-24 secretaries, and sent the C-24 president a hard copy via conventional mail with returned receipt requested, I have not received acknowledgement of my complaint.  My hard copy was returned to me after a month on July 22, 2016 stamped “Returned to Sender.”  This makes me believe that the C-24 has made its decision not to investigate, since it knows that I am telling the truth.

I sent a hard copy letter to the secretary general of the UN to insist on the investigation.  The importance of this complaint is to know:

·         Why did the C-24 not allow me to give my petition this year?

·         Will I be excluded again next year from giving my petition?

·         Is the C-24 actions helpful or detrimental to the decolonization of Puerto Rico?

The only reason that I could see for the C-24 to have excluded me from the list is my involvement in achieving the live radio and television broadcast of this year’s hearing. 

The C-24 does not allow the public to witness the annual Puerto Rico decolonization hearing.  I have criticized that decision in my past petitions.  I have also criticized in the past that the C-24 does not broadcast live on radio and television these annual hearings.  One would think that the C-24 would broadcast these hearings to put pressure on the United States (US) government to comply with the 35 UN resolutions asking it to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico.  Moreover, one would think that being in its 3^rd decade trying to eradicate colonialism, the C-24 would be trying to get all the help that it could get to job the job done!

We are now awaiting to see what the secretary general will do.  Whatever he does, or does not do will tell a lot about how committed the UN really is about the eradication of colonialism. 

Independently of what happens with my investigation, everyone who is committed to Puerto Rico decolonization needs to get involved in this process.  Those who believe that Puerto Rico decolonization is right on track are mistaken. 

Our struggle will be decided in the streets like the students at the Camp against the Board at Chardón Street in Puerto Rico, because those who colonize don’t believe in JUSTICE FOR ALL!
