Save our homes

Citywide Call to Action - Labor and Communities Unite:

  • Save public housing from demolition by Citywide Call to Action - Labor and Communities Unite:
  • Save public housing from demolition by greedy developers
  • No to Trump’s attacks on the Fair Housing Act
  • Yes to Section 9 www. savesection9.org
  • Prevent evictions of senior NYCHA residents & from Fulton 11 in late October

PROTEST Friday October 24, 2025  Gather outside Hudson Guild, 441 West 26th St. March to Related Companies office, 30 Hudson Yards (10th Ave & 33rd St.) RALLY 4 What do we know about Related Companies?

  • $1.9 billion global corporation founded by Steve Ross
  • Used non-union labor at Hudson Yards
  • Wants to build 39-story “mixed income” buildings -  meaning intended mostly for the wealthy but eligible for tax breaks from the City– in Chelsea on the land where the Fulton and Elliott-Chelsea Houses (FEC) stand.

What do we know from the FEC activists and allies?  The original goal was renovation without demolition. A non-binding survey was done with participation of 16% of the authorized residents.  Many people did not participate in the survey because they didn't trust Related, Essence or NYCHA.  The senior building known as Chelsea Addition, adjacent to the historic Hudson Guild Center, is meant to be vacated first. For weeks, seniors (and even their aides!) have been pressured into signing agreements to relocate to other buildings for 36-48 months. Last month, an elder who felt forced to move from Chelsea Addition to a remodeled apartment died from stress. The NYC Housing Authority (NYCHA) is the largest housing provider in North America, with 500,000 units. If NYCHA followed Section 9, the 1937 Act, it could renovate apartments and employ thousands of youth in apprenticeships and make the unions stronger. Section 9 was a response to a national housing crisis among working-class and poor families. Housing is a public good, a public service, not to be used to enrich developers. It was a response to market failures. The market continues to fail.  We need to organize to stop the rollback of federal housing laws and protections overall. FEC is a test case for the rest of NYC, the state, and the USA.  Called by Chelsea Public Housing Coalition  (929) 634-9768    (917) 402-4755 Learn more: https://www.stopfecdemolition.org/  To sign on as an endorser/volunteer, fill out https://forms.gle/r7YyrSqaiN3hEF5L8  Labor Donated 10/20251 of 27,965 City-Wide ProtestAgainst NYCHA & Hudson Yard Inbox picturethestruggle <picturethestruggle@gmail.com> 8:39 AM (26 minutes ago) to blacklove35, bcc: me Citywide Call to Action - Labor and Communities Unite:
