¿Por qué celebrar que Puerto Rico es una colonia de Estados Unidos? / Why celebrate that Puerto Rico is a US colony?

 

¡Somos los único en el mundo que celebramos ser una colonia!  Por 116 años hemos sido una colonia de Estados Unidos (EEUU).  Somos la colonia más antigua y más poblada del mundo.  Para dramatizar nuestro desastre, hay que señalar que ahora tenemos más puertorriqueños que viven afuera de Puerto Rico que adentro.  Oprima este enlace para más información:

Estados Unidos nos invadió militarmente el 25 de julio de 1898.  Después de la insurrección del Partido Nacionalista de Puerto Rico el 30 de octubre de 1950, el gobierno entendió que tenía que hacer algo para callar las voces que criticaban a EEUU por tener la colonia de Puerto Rico.

En el 1952 se creó el Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico para esconder en un closet la relación colonial entre EEUU y PR.  Se escogió aprobar la “Constitución del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico en el mismo día de la invasión norteamericana para también esconder otro hecho histórico.   El próximo año, EEUU le pidió a la Organización de Naciones Unidas (ONU) que sacara a Puerto Rico de su lista de colonias porque Puerto Rico ahora gozaba de gobierno propio.   La ONU le creyó este embuste, y por eso es que hoy Puerto Rico no aparece en la lista de colonias.  Así fue que el gobierno de EEUU pudo esconder otro hecho más que no quería que el mundo supiera. 

La ONU por fin entendió que EEUU le mintió, y por eso se celebra una vista anual para discutir la descolonización de Puerto Rico.  La ONU acaba de aprobar por consenso en el Comité de Descolonización la resolución número 33 pidiéndole a  EEUU que descolonice inmediatamente a Puerto Rico.  Hasta ahora, EEUU ha ignorado estas resoluciones.  ¿No cree el gobierno de Estados Unidos en la democracia?

Puerto Rico no tiene razón para celebrar la “Constitución del Estado Libre Asociado de Puerto Rico” porque eso representa ser una colonia del gobierno de Estados Unidos. Si queremos descolonizar a Puerto Rico no podemos confundir al mundo de que Puerto Rico tiene gobierno propio para dirigir nuestro destino.  Debemos de boicotear “las elecciones” en Puerto Rico para dramatizar nuestra verdadera relación colonial.

Únete a 3 protesta anuales hasta que Puerto Rico se descolonice.  La primer será una marcha en Puerto Rico hasta el Tribunal de Estados Unidos el 22 de marzo – Día de la Abolición de la Esclavitud.  La segunda será otra marcha en Puerto Rico el día antes de la vista en la ONU sobre la descolonización de Puerto Rico.  La tercera será una protesta en Nueva York en el día que la ONU celebra su vista anual sobre la descolonización de Puerto Rico.  Por supuesto, también respaldaríamos toda manifestación para la excarcelación del prisionero político puertorriqueño Oscar López Rivera. 

¡Estas manifestaciones son absolutamente necesarias porque, el que ha mantenido una colonia por 116 años definitivamente no cree en la justicia para todos!

We are the only ones in the world who celebrate being a colony!  For the last 116 years, Puerto Rico has been a colony of the United States (US).  We are the most populated and oldest colony in the world.  To dramatize our disaster, you should be aware that more Puerto Ricans now live outside of Puerto Rico than in.  What more proof do you need to show that Puerto Rico is administered for the interests of the United States government and not for Puerto Ricans!  Click on the following link to read an article about when Univision mistakenly wished Puerto Rico, "Happy Independence Day!"  You will notice that Univision removed that video from circulation.  http://www.latinorebels.com/2012/07/25/on-puerto-ricos-constitution-day-univision-wishes-puerto-ricans-a-happy-independence-day/

The United States invaded Puerto Rico militarily on July 25^th, 1898.  After the Puerto Rican Nationalist Party insurrection of October 30^th, 1950, the US government knew that it had to quiet the voices of those who denounced the US’ colonial relationship with Puerto Rico. 

In 1952, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico was created to mask the US’ colony of Puerto Rico.  The “Constitution of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico” was approved on the same day the US invaded Puerto Rico in order to put that part of our history in the closet too.  The next year, the US asked the United Nations (UN) to take Puerto Rico off the list of colonies, because she had now acquired self-government.  The UN believed this lie, and that is why Puerto Rico does not appear on the list today.  And in this way, the US in 1953 hid one more thing that US does not wants the world to know!

The UN finally realized that it had been lied to.  This is why the UN holds every year a hearing to discuss the decolonization of Puerto Rico.  The UN has thus far approved 33 resolutions asking the US to immediately decolonize Puerto Rico.  The US has thus far ignored these resolutions approved by consensus for the last 15 years.  Doesn’t the US government believe in democracy?

Puerto Rico has no reason to celebrate the “Constitution of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico”, because that in fact represents being a US colony.  If we want to decolonize Puerto Rico, we cannot confuse the world that we believe we have self-government.  We should also boycott the Puerto Rico elections to dramatize the colonial relationship that we in fact do have!

Join 3 peaceful protests a year until we decolonize Puerto Rico.  The first one will be a march in Puerto Rico to the US Courthouse on March 22 – The Abolition of Slavery Day.  The second one will be another march in Puerto Rico on the day before the UN hearing concerning the decolonization of Puerto Rico.  The third one will be a protest in New York City on the day that the UN has its annual hearing about the decolonization of Puerto Rico.  Of course, we will also support all demonstrations for the release of our Puerto Rican political prisoner Oscar López Rivera.

These protests are absolutely necessary, because those who have had a colony for 116 years certainly don’t believe in justice for all!
